Bumbershoot Serving Up BBQ In Argyle

Bumpershoot003by Trey Moran

Sitting behind  Fuzzy’s Taco Shop and Earl’s 377 Pizza at the intersection of HWY 377 and FM 407 sits a vintage travel trailer serving up some decent hickory & pecan smoked meats.  Bumpershoot BBQ is brought to you by the owners of LSA Burger in Denton and the aforementioned Earl’s 377 Pizza.

Just on first impressions this place should be a hit for this area.  It’s a nice environment and family friendly.  They have about a dozen or so octagon shaped picnic tables, most with umbrellas.  Classic country music was wafting down from up in the trees and the temperature outside was mid 70s and perfect for some outdoor BBQ.   Continue reading

Out of the Fire and into the Fryer at Quincy’s Chicken Shack

Qs-9by Trey Moran

We enjoyed a nice preview dinner at the newest endeavor from the people that bring you Truck Yard and Twisted Root.  Quincy’s Chicken Shack opened in Coppell about 3 months ago and is business is starting to pick up.  Named for co-owner Quincy Hart and loosely based on his family recipes, they wanted to give the place the vibe of hanging in someone’s back yard. Mission accomplished.

Inside is a big open room with big barn doors and a massive Mason jar chandelier.  Family style picnic tables lined with hay bales for sitting. The hay bales were my only complaint of the night. They were not as comfortable as you would think. I did over hear that they were making a change to this so crisis averted.  A massive door opens up to the patio area. Filled with vintage style lawn furniture, tables, a lighted windmill and an old truck with its bed converted to a stage, it was one of the better patios I’ve been to lately and there’s nothing like it in that area. There is also an outside bar.   Continue reading

Maggiano’s Offers New Brunch Items

magg1by Trey Moran

I had the pleasure of sampling the upcoming brunch menu at Maggiano’s Little Italy at Northpark this past weekend and from what they presented it should be a hit.  I’m not much for the big chain restaurants but I have always enjoyed Maggiano’s. The food is always on point and there is always an energetic atmosphere.  And it is always a good place to end up after hiking Northpark all day.   Continue reading

Where to Find Karaoke in Tarrant County Pt I

karaokeby Trey Moran

One thing we enjoy at craveDFW is a good song. The only thing better is the sound of our own voice and that means karaoke. A great means of entertainment, and something that brings friends, family and colleagues together is the song.

We have prepared a list of the best karaoke spots in Dallas. This is in no way a definitive list, but we will continue to update so check back often. Look for a Dallas list soon. Feel free to let us know your favorite spot to wail.   Continue reading

Tokyo Café Back From the Ashes

tokyocafe1by Trey Moran

While not a new restaurant by any means, Tokyo Café has undergone a rebirth since a fire wiped out much of the structure and forced a two year closure. Chef Kevin Martinez brings his take on traditional Asian fare with killer ramen and a full sushi bar along with beef, chicken and pork bowls, wok fried noodles and entrée’s such as bone in short ribs with Japanese risotto and Tokyo Fish & Chips (tempura red snapper with yuzu tarter sauce).  Locals rave about the ramen.   Continue reading

Rocking In The New Year – 80’s Style

img_6629by Trey Moran

While pondering the various places to spend New Years Eve this year one of the first places I thought of was Studio 80 in downtown Fort Worth.  I’m glad I called when I did because they were just about booked for reserved tables.  The table fee was extremely reasonable for 4 seats with party favors (hats, glasses, horns, etc.) and a full size bottle of champagne.  A good time was certain to be had by all.

Studio 80 previously existed in the Cultural District off of University Drive and shared a parking lot with The Grotto. After shutting down to remodel, a fire and landlord issues the club relocated to the spot previously occupied by Vee Lounge off Taylor Street downtown. The new club has much more square footage, better video screens, a better sound system and is actually two clubs in one.   Continue reading

Melis For The Best Tacos In Fort Worth

Melis06by Trey Moran

Off the beaten path and sometimes hard to see the signage, Melis is tucked away off Vickery Blvd and there you will find some of the best tacos in the Fort. Ok, they could well be THE BEST tacos in the Fort. Locals know about Melis but it’s still kind of a secret go-to spot when you have a craving for some real Mexican tacos al pastor. Open from 6am until 10pm every day, you can pretty much get your fix whenever you need it.  Continue reading
