The Playwright Pub Opens Nov 14th
The Playwright, Dallas’ newest Irish pub opening Wednesday, November 14 for lunch, dinner and late-night every night, offers a tried and true experience at One Arts Plaza in the heart of Dallas’ Arts District.
Brought to us by the same owners as The Crafty Irishman, the new pub offers hundreds of whiskeys and scotches and 50 beers on tap, including a healthy Irish selection. As for the menu, customary Irish dishes, such as Fish and Chips, Scotch Eggs, Shepherd’s Pie, Bangers and Mash and Guinness Ice Cream are just a few of the made-in-house items. Continue reading

“Elwood” Continues at the Ochre House Theater Through November 17

The cast of Elwood are regulars seen at the Ochre House Theater located in the Exposition near Fair Park, an area studded with interesting bars and restaurants which seems to be enjoying a surge of interest with those weary of the more bustling lifestyle of Deep Ellum, its closest neighbor. The theater enjoys the avant garde, but very palatable even for casual theater-goers. Most productions have a musical element to them, and the 50-seat theater typically will feature a four-piece band of musicians which also perform sound effects for each play. Continue reading

Fourth DFW Alamo Drafthouse Announced
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema DFW announces today that the fourth location of the Alamo Drafthouse in North Texas is in the Denton County Town of Little Elm. Alamo Drafthouse Little Elm will open in the first quarter of 2016. The theater plans to open in the newly developing, Main Marketplace at the northwest corner of Main Street and FM 423.
“Stepping into Denton County and being a part of the massive growth happening in Little Elm is very exciting. Additionally having an Alamo closer to UNT and TWU as well as landing in the same city with another great Austin-centric brand, Hula Hut, makes this the perfect combination. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Opening In Cedars Mid 2015

The big buzz around Dallas today is the reveal for the new location of the next Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in the Cedars area of Dallas, just south of downtown Dallas. This area continues to grow with many new condos opening very soon. The expansion of Alamo in the DFW area is just part of at least five locations that will dot the movie-going landscape.
The eight-screen theater, and Glass Half Full Taproom, will be owned and operated by Two is One, One is None LLC, the DFW franchise partner of the Alamo Drafthouse that also owns the Alamo in Richardson. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will become a part of the South Side Lamar District, joining the NYLO Hotel, SODA bar, The Cedars Social, Gilley’s, Full Circle Tavern, Southside Ballroom, Terrace Bistro, Opening Bell Coffee, Poor David’s Pub and Bill’s Records. Check Out Oral Fixation’s Final Show For The Season Tonight

Last month I checked out this delightful program at the The MAC, located at 3120 McKinney Ave. and was thrilled. Oral Fixation is about story telling and includes people from all backgrounds with diverse stories. Tonight is the final night of the season and you need to check this out.
CraveDFW contributor and writer Steven Lindsey said it best: “It’s the perfect night of live theater: Nothing but a bare stage, a bar stool and regular people’s real stories — all taking up little more than an hour. Nicole carefully selects submissions and assembles the show to take the audience on an emotional journey.
