Jack Daniel’s Saloon Premiers Menu

by David Donalson

Gilley’s on south Lamar has a new watering hole attached to the venue, the Jack Daniel’s Saloon. I was invited to come and taste some of the new, Texas inspired food that you can eat for lunch, before a show in the many venues, or even enjoy their catering abilities.

After a quick tour of the facilities (15 minutes of walking, this place is huge), I sat down to see what was on the menu, expecting Applebee’s Jack Daniel sauce to be slathered over everything. This was not the case and there were some good standouts.     Continue reading →

Quest for Burgers: The Commissary

by Rob Banes

This week’s burger quest took our group to One Arts Plaza to visit The Commissary – John Tesar’s new restaurant. At lunch, the Commissary’s menu features small plates, salad and a variety of burgers including ones made with short ribs, braised pig tails and pork belly, duck eggs and lamb among other ingredients.

While the other burgers sounded intriguing on the menu, I decided to go with the Magic Burger which featured an eight ounce grass fed beef patty and apple wood smoked bacon. I ordered the burger medium and served on a brioche bun instead of the standard English muffin. All burgers come with skinny fries and the half pound Magic Burger cost $9.74. After placing my order with the friendly server, the following burger arrived fifteen minutes later:    Continue reading →

New Lunch Offerings at Craft Dallas

by Steven Doyle

This week Craft Dallas invited us in to try out the new lunch menu and we were more than happy to comply. Craft has always been one of our favorite go-to restaurants in Dallas and were anxious to chat with Tim Bevins, the executive chef replacement for Jeff Harris who has left to venture on his own at RedFork.

Bevins has a wonderful demeanor with a homespun attitude about cooking, but has the chops to execute these beautiful dishes that have become synonymous with the Colicchio machine.       Continue reading →

STOMP in Fair Park

by Crave Staff

The wildly popular percussion show STOMP comes to Music Hall at Fair Park June 7-12. The show features a cast of eight performers, who create a wildly rhythmic soundscape using unconventional instruments — everything from brooms and garbage cans to matchboxes and hubcaps. Audiences will also be treated to two new full-scale routines utilizing props such as tractor-tire inner tubes and paint cans.  For tickets and information go to Dallas Summer Musicals.

Win A Swag Bag From Shinsei’s 5th Anniversary

Elvis by Robert Bostick

by Crave Staff

We scored a nice swag bag from Shinsei’s 5th anniversary party last weekend and want to pass it on to one of you.  Put your name in the hat for the drawing.  If you say something clever you might get two entries into the magic hat.

The bag includes 5 of Tracy Rathbun and Lynae Fearing’s favorite things ala Oprah. No cars or boats (we kept those), but some nice things none the less.

Good luck!
