Via Triozzi Just Added Sunday Brunch — and the Rooftop Above

Leigh Hutchinson opened Via Triozzi on Lower Greenville in August 2023 and it landed immediately — handmade pasta, a Sicilian-American grandmother’s recipes, flour imported from Italy, and a room that felt nothing like the chain Italian that had been filling the gap in Dallas for years. The lasagne al forno became the dish people drove for. The bistecca alla fiorentina gave it range. The all-Italian wine list, built around natural and low-intervention producers, gave it a point of view.

Two things worth knowing about now: the restaurant added Sunday brunch, and the rooftop above it has been open since last April.

Meatballs

Brunch runs Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 1806 Greenville Avenue. It’s the same kitchen, the same handmade pasta program, the same sourcing. Via Triozzi doesn’t do a diluted weekend version of itself. Worth reserving — the dining room is 60 seats and fills up.

The rooftop is a separate concept called Terrazza di Triozzi, and it deserves its own mention. Hutchinson built it to feel like a perch on the Italian coast — yellow and white striped decor, shaded awnings, massive potted plants, a 14-seat bar, lounge seating, and reservable cabanas. The elevator up to it is the first and only one on Greenville Avenue. The bar runs 14 Italian amari — Aperol, Averna, Cardamaro, Cynar, and others — built for custom spritzes. Peroni on draft. Frozen cocktails. A short menu designed for grazing rather than dining.

Arancini

What’s on the Terrazza menu is lighter than what you’d eat downstairs, by design. The Carne Cruda is chopped tenderloin with capers, parmigiano-reggiano, lemon, and savory pizzelle — the right start to anything. The Insalata di Polpo brings charred octopus with potatoes, olives, and oregano. The Misto di Mare is a seafood salad with celery and cherry peppers.

Pizzette come in four versions — margherita, pepperoni, arugula with prosciutto and stracciatella, and taleggio with local mushrooms — and it’s the only place in the Via Triozzi operation where you can get pizza. There’s also a risotto with mascarpone and lemon sugo, a salumi and cheese board, and a trio of desserts to close.

The Terrazza is walk-in only except for cabanas, which need to be booked through Resy. Hours mirror Via Triozzi below: Sunday brunch 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., dinner from 4:30 p.m. Sunday and Monday; Wednesday and Thursday 5 to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 4:30 to 11 p.m. Closed Tuesdays. Phone is (469) 897-5679.

Lower Greenville is good right now. This address is a reason to go.
