Needing a scare for the weekend? We have collected some of the better haunted attractions in DFW. Note that many of the houses are not created for your little creatures, but there are a few that have separate scare tactics for youngsters.

Most haunted houses have two prices, one for regular admission, and a second speed pass price to exit through the long lines that you will surely meet. Jump in the haunted pit of horrors for a list of our local favorites.           Continue reading

Makers 46 Competition at FW’s The Usual

by Steven Doyle

Last evening The Usual in Fort Worth played host to 7 bartenders from across Dallas and Fort Worth including gents from Bolsa, Smoke, Whiskey Cake, Bob’s Steak and Chop House, Del Frisco’s, and a Kelly from Grace in Fort Worth who was the only female contender.

At stake was a pair of Cowboy play-off tickets and bragging rights. The latter seemed more of the coveted prized than the former.

Lightcatcher Winery and Bistro

by David Donalson

Lightcatcher Winery and Bistro has built a strong reputation for its atmosphere and for its wine so it seemed like a natural stop in my search for good Texas wine. So we loaded up into the car and made the trek to far north Fort Worth to drive into their winery facility.

First impression of the facility was that it felt “Texan” in the layout and decor. Walking in the front door, you are hit by a jazz theme. This makes sense when you find out they have Jazz Sundays twice a month. 3 hours of jazz for $10 per person might be interesting if the food and wine hold up.   Continue reading
