While at the Gilt City one year anniversary party Sunday night we heard something that we thought craveDFW readers might like to know. This event is something very special. Here is the release just sent to us. Notice it is for men, women and children with an open bar. We also heard they are flying in a warehouse full of clothing from New York just for this sale. Gilt City Dinner at the Mansion
In March of 2010 Brooke Hortenstine, editor-at-large for local Paper City, did a clever piece with Mansion Restaurant executive chef Bruno Davaillon and cooked together for a day. This past weekend they reprised their kitchen tête-à-tête for Gilt City Dallas and prepared a special dinner for a handful of people that virtually sold out in minutes.
As a last minute invited guest I was at once grinning and excited to see what the duo of Davaillon and Hortenstine might prepare. The menu was not created until the day before the event.
Stick with me on this, you have a chance to win a very special prize at the end of this read. Continue reading

Gilt City Deal on Great One Cookie Company
by Steven Doyle photos by Robert Bostick
For those that follow craveDFW regularly know that we appreciate what the people at Great One Cookie Companyare doing. We ran a first look at the bakery back in March just as they opened their doors and met the new cookie queen of Dallas, Pam Denesuk.
This week Pam let us know about some new flavors they are offering at Great One and they include Chocolate Chip Pecan, Lemon Drop, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Chocolate Pretzel and Snickerdoodle. We are particularly interested in the Lemon Drop, but Snickerdoodles bring back fond childhood memories. Continue reading

Gilt City Launches, Fosters More Cravings with Foster the People

It was thus with definite curiosity that I accepted an invitation to check out the Gilt City Dallas Launch Party at House of Blues on Wednesday evening, featuring a live performance by Los Angeles’ Foster the People.
It was an exclusive party for members of Gilt City, not to mention that Foster the People have already played a few sold-out shows in Dallas. The scene was predictable at the House of Blues, a venue that cannot seem to recover from its poor acoustics, but nonetheless an iconic staple that can solidify any band’s reputation in this city. Are You Gilty, Dallas?
Last night I attended the kick-off party for Gilt City Dallas, the steroid version of Groupon that entices its users with promises of exclusive menus prepared by top chefs, tickets to sold-out shows, and A-list pampering at luxury salons — all at mega discounts.
Although I didn’t get any new information from Gilt about the new Dallas venture last evening, I will be hunting down more details in the coming week that should prove beneficial to craveDFW readers. Continue reading
