Review: Crown Royal XR

crownby James Davidson

Gregor Cattanach the Senior National Master of Whisky (a title I’d love to hold) for Diageo was giving a presentation Monday night at the Sigels Elite on Fitzhugh about Crown Royal and it’s varying expressions.  It cost $30 and was worth every penny.  Below are my impressions of the Crown Royal line up.

Crown Royal Deluxe taste like whiskey (Surprise!).  After rolling the dram around in my mouth, other flavors did come to light: sweet, caramel and mixed spice.  It wasn’t a bad experience, but it didn’t blow my mind.  Crown is walking a fine line between subtle and boring.  I haven’t decided which side of that line it’s on yet.   Continue reading

The bar, of course, was Smyth, the controversial speak easy/reservation bar that at its height was nothing short of genius.   Continue reading

SPCA Pets of the Week: Mack & Angel

Mack129476by Steven Doyle

Mack is a 7 year-old, male Labrador mix, weighing in at 53 pounds. He came to the SPCA of Texas on March 18 because he was transferred in from another facility (City of Irving). He is heartworm positive, but his treatments are FREE to his new family at a Metroplex-area VCA Animal Hospital after he’s adopted. This will provide the best total care for heartworm positive dogs like Mack in treatment, as he’ll have access to emergency care and overnight stays if necessary.

Mack has been neutered, microchipped and has all of his age-appropriate shots. He is looking forward to getting a second chance with a loving family. Come fall in love with Mack today. #129476   Continue reading
