We Dig The Dugg Burger

DSC07191by Steven Doyle

Burgermania continues to thrive in Dallas as more restaurants open that feature burgers and more burgers. The latest we tried is one called Dugg Burger which the original location on Garland Road in Casa Linda and a second outpost on Park and Preston. What makes the Dugg Burger unique is not only the process, but the high quality ingredients and the simple pricing scheme.

First for the process. It is a bit unusual, but definitely what makes the Dugg unique. The moment you walk in the door they fire a burger patty. They already know you will have a burger because that is all they serve. Then they take a fresh Village Baking Company bun (our favorite) and hollow out the top inside with a patented auger. Never fear, nothing is wasted, and they use the cored bun portion to make bread pudding. That comes later. The bun is then buttered and set on another special tool they had created to fire the augured portion of the bun so the inside gets fully browned and crisp.   Continue reading

Dugg Burger Featuring Even More Options

“Have It Your Way.” That slogan grills up memories of low-def TV commercials and soft cardboard crowns I used to fight over with my little sister. But in the foodie era of 2017, that tactic is obligatory on a menu. Holding down a smidgen of un-decidedly un-prime real estate in a small shopping center at the corner of West Park and Ohio Drive is Dugg Burger. I know; West Plano needed another burger joint. But hold the groans and unroll those eyes, because what West Plano didn’t have was a charming little spot that is just as enticing to the foodie set as it is to families. And that, burger buffs, is where Dugg Burger lets you ‘have it your way.’

I don’t know if it was because I was snapping pics in the parking lot like a crime scene technician, or maybe he just always greets his customers with a hearty “Hello, welcome to Dugg Burger!” but Head of Operations guru Greg Watson immediately put a smile on my face and a twinge in my appetite. His sincere, concentrated southern demeanor almost clashed against the industrial-chic, alt-rock vibe that Dugg Burger emits. Once I got over the predictable let down that he was A Greg, and not The Doug, it wasn’t ‘charred’ to love this place.  Continue reading

Dugg Burger Opening in Casa Linda

dugg ext sign

Set to open in February at Casa Linda Plaza, Dugg Burger plans to introduce consumers to its innovative way of thinking about burgers and show how they execute a simple concept exceptionally well with great tasting results.

By digging out the top portion of the bun, Dugg Burger is able to reverse the burger-building process. Rather than starting with the patty and then adding toppings, the Dugg team will fill the “dugg out” bun with toppings chosen by guests in a build-as-you-go fashion. The burger patty is then added hot off the grill after all ingredients are selected, giving customers a perfectly customized burger. This process eliminates the wait that is customary at other burger restaurants and ensures every burger is exactly as the guest wants.  Continue reading
