Fletcher’s Corny Dogs are Legendary

Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs is a name that resonates far beyond the gates of Fair Park. Born in 1942 at the State Fair of Texas, this Dallas institution began with a simple but brilliant idea: wrap a hot dog in cornmeal batter and fry it to golden perfection. Brothers Neil and Carl Fletcher, former vaudeville performers turned food innovators, spent nearly a decade perfecting the concept. When they finally debuted it to fairgoers, the reception was immediate and intense. Few could resist the combination of crisp batter and juicy hot dog, served on a stick—portable, affordable, and unforgettable. The corny dog, as they called it, quickly became a Texas staple.

Fletcher’s Corny Dogs to Open Permanent Location at Klyde Warren Park

Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs will become the first-ever “permanent” food truck in Klyde Warren Park (KWP). Visitors to the Park will find them stationed on the East Lawn, opposite of Food Truck Lane, by the soon to be revealed Nancy Best Fountain. The Fletcher’s truck will sell all six varieties of Corny Dogs, Seasoned Curly Fries and Lemonade. The new truck is being specially designed and branded and will make its debut later this Fall to coincide with the official opening of the new fountain at KWP. Until then, FCD will make special appearances at select KWP events with one of the brands mobile trailers.

The State Fair of Texas is known for taking culinary creativity to new heights. These new foods don’t just appear out of thin air either; our concessionaires spend months – sometimes years – developing brand-new concepts that have never been made before anywhere in the world. While we typically announce new foods closer to the Fair, we were blown away by this new concoction, we had to share it now. We’re thrilled to announce a new collaboration with the iconic Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs – debuting at the 2022 State Fair of Texas will be the new food, Deep Fried Air.

Fletcher’s Helping Feed Children Event July 12th

89% of our city’s students rely on DISD-provided school lunches. When school’s out, so is their daily meal. This summer, Fletcher’s Corny Dogs will be diving head first into the problem. Friday, July 12, you can help break the cycle of kids going hungry during your lunch break. GoDo Discovery Co. is teaming up with the world famous, and more importantly Texas famous, Fletcher’s Corny Dogs and their philanthropic arm, Fletcher’s Feeds, to help the almost 200,000 food insecure children in Dallas this summer.
