Food Truck Rally and Beer Tasting

by Crave Staff

One of the most exciting developments in the restaurant world today is the emergence of the gourmet food truck. While Dallas has lagged behind other major cities around the country, it seems that the City Council has finally worked out the bugs in the system to accommodate this exciting trend. Throughout the summer Sigel’s  has hosted gourmet food trucks serving a variety of  cuisines prepared fresh by some of Dallas’ most innovative chefs.

Here is all the info you will need for the First Annual Food Truck Rally:

Join Sigel’s-Greenville (5757 Greenville Avenue) on Saturday, August 27th at 6pm for the 1st Annual DFW Gourmet Food Truck festival. 10 of DFW’s finest mobile restaurants will be on hand to showcase their cuisine. Inside Sigel’s will host a free wine and craft beer tasting featuring Ninety Plus Cellars, Samuel Adams & Rahr Brewery.

You will be able to visit 3 men & a Taco, Crazysisters, Entice Ice, Gandolfo’s NY Deli, Jack’s Chowhound, Mr Cool Ice Cream, Namm,i The Bomb Fried Pies, Trailercakes, and  Ruthie’s Rolling Café with possibly more added at the last minute. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the trucks you have been reading about.

In addition to all the truck-mania, there will be an abundance of beer samples inside the store, including:

Samuel Adams Brewing

Octoberfest This beer masterfully blends together five roasts of malt to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors, including caramel and toffee. The malt is complemented by the elegant bitterness imparted by the Bavarian Noble hops.

Harvest Pumpkin Ale Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale is brewed with over 11 pounds of real pumpkin per barrel, adding a full body and sweetness to the dark reddish amber brew. Deep roasted malt, including smoked malt, lend a distinct roasted character, while traditional pumpkin pie spices give the beer a subtle spice note.

Bonfire Rauchbier Rauchbier is a dark, malty, smoked brew. The specialty malt is dried over an open fire, giving the beer a distinct smokiness. The classic yet complex flavor of this beer includes a rich maltiness that balances the smoked character with deep caramel and toffee notes for a full flavor and smooth finish.

Boston Lager Brewed with only the finest ingredients including Bavarian Noble hops and traditional brewing methods. This is a full-flavored and balance beer. The balance of malty sweetness contrasted by spiciness and followed by the robust, smooth finish sets the standard for all Samuel Adams beers.

Rahr Brewing

Gravel Road Altbeir Way out in the country, there are gravel roads. It’s the safest road with gentle slopes, without sudden turnings and without milestones or signposts – it’s like a good friend. It’s a connection to life – a tie to the past, the key to sanity in an insane world. It shows the final destination and usually the best way to get there. Our Gravel Road is a tribute to this lifestyle. This is a German-Style Sticke Altbier with an amber hue, medium carbonation with great balance between strong malt and hops. Relax as you travel down your gravel road. This is your ale – it’s sure to please.

LaGrange Farmhouse Ale LaGrange is a sturdy farmhouse ale that is very complex, with a myriad of esters ranging from fruit-like aromas to earthy yeast tones. It is dry and refreshing, perfect for a late summer thirst.

Ugly Pug Black Lager Ugly Pug is a schwarzbier, or black lager. Unlike most dark beers that are often described as “heavy” or “chewy”, Rahr’s Ugly Pug has a surprisingly light body. Reviewers have been vocal about how happy they are to have a dark beer that’s easy to drink on even the hottest Texas summer days. We’ve even heard people refer to Pug as “nirvana in a bottle” because it combines their three favorite flavors, coffee, hints of chocolate, and of course BEER!

Stormcloud IPA A German-Style IPA – a traditional India Pale Ale with German Influence. IPAs, such as Stormcloud, are renowned for their ability to stand up to the spiciest of foods. Pair Stormcloud with Thai, Indian and Mexican food and you’ll find yourself on an exciting culinary adventure. Or you can stay closer to home because Stormcloud goes just as well with a burger or some chicken grilled in your backyard.
