Fruitealicious Hard Serves the Tunes

Last Saturday the best place to beat the summer heat was Frutealicious in Carrolton. They kicked the summer off with an assortment of local bands and cold drinks. Indie hip-hop group, Josephine Versus Black Jesus, played for a surprisingly large crowd of people as more waited outside. Their set suffered a few technical difficulties, but still sounded great and the crowd was more than receptive to their jams.  This night was also the demo-release party for local punk band, Something Social. Tonight: Jazz Under the Stars

Join rising vocalist Rosana Eckert for the finale of the 2011 Jazz Under the Stars  season. Eckert’s style fuses bossa nova, blues, and traditional swing with original songs and unique arranging. She is known for her knack for storytelling and her ability to breathe new life into beloved standards with her contemporary style. Eckert has performed with such jazz greats as Kenny Wheeler, Lyle Mays, and Jon Faddis as well as with the acclaimed group New York Voices. 

Summer nights sizzle with cool jazz under the stars. Bring a picnic and blanket or purchase food and beverages on-site.

STOMP in Fair Park

The wildly popular percussion show STOMP comes to Music Hall at Fair Park June 7-12. The show features a cast of eight performers, who create a wildly rhythmic soundscape using unconventional instruments — everything from brooms and garbage cans to matchboxes and hubcaps. Audiences will also be treated to two new full-scale routines utilizing props such as tractor-tire inner tubes and paint cans.  For tickets and information go to Dallas Summer Musicals.

TACA Lexus Party on the Green showcases the culinary talents of celebrity guest chefs from Dallas and around the world, who dish up their signature cuisine at stations set throughout Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. A silent auction, wine cork pull and vibrant musical entertainment add to the evening’s festivities. Concert Series Announced

It’s time again for thousands to head to the shores in Rockwall at The Harbor for its annual and free summer concert series by the lake. The first concert is May 5th Cinco De Mayo with Elvis impersonator David Allen.
