When we broke the story that Nazca Kitchen was moving into the shopping center on Walnut Hill just behind Red, Hot and Blues (and coincidently owned by the same folks) we had no idea what to expect. South American cuisine can mean so much, especially with its European influences. This allows for a broad and interesting menu. The beautiful interior was designed by Hatsumi Kuzuu who also designed FT33.
The menu strikes bold flavors using interesting chiles as well as colorful grains and sauces. The restaurant is open all day, starting with a delightful breakfast menu that is all about healthy, just as you might enjoy in Brazil. Under the reigns of chef Eric DiStefano, Ocho Kitchen and Cocktails has morphed into a fantastic take on the New Mexico plate. His staff roasts fresh Anaheim chiles each day to create these full flavored dishes not too unlike he does at his restaurants in Santa Fe. I tried some of the menu when the restaurant opened just a few short months ago in Preston Center near Northwest Highway, and had a chance to sample the majority of them again this past weekend.
There have been several tweaks, and a few items removed (please bring back the lobster pancakes) and now the restaurant is snuggling into a familiar taste that is obviously bringing guests back each evening. Being known as a food lover amongst your peers means that you are regularly asked where to dine in Dallas. Last week I had the pleasure of enjoying a meal with friends at Acme F&B and I can safely say this is one restaurant you don’t want to miss.
Upon entering the large front doors I was immediately greeted not only by the hostess, but also by a wonderful and enticing aroma that filled the air. I made my way to the bar in the back, enjoying the thoughtful and warm décor anchored by a large fireplace in the middle of an open dining room. The patio area is also very spacious, this night I opted for the cozy grouping of armchairs near the fireplace. Continue reading
