We have been patiently waiting for the Village Kitchen to open up, you know, the re-imagined Marquee Grill in Highland  Park Village. Today we were sent word that it will open this coming Thursday, August 22nd for lunch and dinner.  Village Kitchen promises an approachable yet playful menu in a comfortable and casual setting.

Executive Chef Andre Natera explains, “Village Kitchen will be a true neighborhood restaurant that will serve the needs of our guests any day of the week with a lunch and dinner menu that is accessible and relevant to the entire family with reasonable price points.  Our kid’s menu will offer classics and healthy choices as well.  We will also be offering a menu of indulgent shakes and floats.  Each day of the week will feature one particular entrée unique to that day.”    Continue reading

I know I am not the only one impressed with the marvelous job Andre Natera is doing over at Marquee Grill in Highland Park Village. His deft hand plays merriment on our palate, and it seems he never grows weary of playfulness in his kitchen.

We will settle for our nunchaku and bow hunting skills all the while as we lust after the following weekend specials he sent our way in email today. Check out the photos below and enjoy licking your monitor, or just make reservations.   Continue reading

craveRADIO: April 21, 2013

This week on craveRADIO we hosted guest Andre Natera who recently took on the top toque position at Village Marquee Grill in Highland Park Village. There the chef casts his own special flare on his locally sourced cuisine. Chef Natera explained that his style relied heavily on classic French technique. This is why his dishes are fresh and approachable, without much of the faddish glam that can often be found in some of the top American restaurants across the country. Natera labeled his style as modern regional Texas-Inspired cuisine.     Continue reading

When choosing where to meet a friend for lunch in Dallas, you have what is commonly referred to as a “first world problem.” There are many, many great choices. Sure, there’s Hopdoddy with a line wrapped around the building, or one of the new exciting food trucks that has recently debuted on the Dallas food scene. But, if the weather isn’t so great and you forgot the website where you track down the food truck closest to you, do yourself a favor and check out the tasty lunch menu at Marquee Grill. Situated in Highland Park Village, Chef Andre Natera has forged a lunch menu that no friend would pass up meeting with you to try.      Continue reading

Natera’s New Menu Now Official At Marquee

Salmon webby Steven Doyle

I have known Andre Natera for more than a few years, and have enjoyed his talents while he worked the kitchens at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas. He is a bright chef that has a passion for his craft while maintaining a delicious humility, a trait that could be well learned by a few chefs new and old. Recently we reported that Natera took over the helm at the Village Marquee Grill in Highland Park Village and I personally was elated.

I enjoyed former chef Tre Wilcox’s cuisine, and was now looking forward to seeing what Natera would do with the menu. I was also eager for more people to experience what I have had at the Fairmont, which has always been tough for locals to make that small trek downtown for an amazing meal for whatever reason.   Continue reading

The Second Floor At Marquee To Transition Into Sushi

Just weeks ago we learned that Marquee chef Tre Wilcox was leaving the restaurant he helped open, and the restaurant hired former Fairmont Hotel chef Andre Natera. Nataera started as chef at the beginning of February and has been doing a fantastic job as top toque, working with Tre’s menu for the time being and putting out some amazing specials that are being trialed for the new menu which should roll out very soon. Even bigger news is what will become of the second floor that the owners announced would be transitioned into a separate restaurant. There has been plenty of speculation.   Continue reading

Derry Leaves Private Social, Natera Joins Marquee

aDSC_3825by Steven Doyle

There has been some crazy in the air the past few weeks. I  have been getting notes from all sorts of industry people the last ten days or so stating that Tiffany Derry was leaving Private Social. When I  finally sent a note to the restaurant’s publicist it wasn’t more than two hours later I read about the news on the Eats Blog.  We wish Tiffany the very best as she works out her new routine.

I think Tiffany is one classy cookie who can cook like no one else, and it will be interesting to see what she does next. I do recall her telling me about her own television program that was possibly in the works.

If the rumor mill is even close to being correct there is more afoot at Private Social that should extremely interesting. Continue reading

Natera Takes Leave From The Fairmont

by Steven Doyle

I received a text recently from Chef Andre Natera, my favorite Zen chef, stating that he is taking leave from the Fairmont Dallas to “spend time with family and focus on some other things”. Natera is one super talented chef who had a goal to create a network of chefs throughout the community for the common good and to develop young talent.

The utopian chef idea was that there would be this exchange of ideas, and chefs, to make Dallas a stronger restaurant city. There were a few late night chef “summits” where they collectively cooked for each other and chatted about new ideas, and they proved extremely interesting.   Continue reading
