The Buttons Family Affair Benefit Concert in Support of Chef Keith “Buttons” Hicks

The original owners and management team of Buttons Restaurant, formerly located in Fort Worth, Addison and DeSoto, Texas, have united to host “The Button’s Family Affair Benefit Concert” in support of Chef Keith “Buttons” Hicks. The Award-winning Chef behind the restaurant’s original food and music for the soul, has been diagnosed with end-stage Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). He is in palliative care and needs a double lung transplant. The Buttons Family is asking for love, support and prayers from the community.

For The Love of Jackson

If involved in any scene whatsoever, food, fashion or anything involving fun, you know of the man named Jackson. A single named entity right here in Dallas. He owns the exciting company Fluent, which is an ultra Dallas concierge service, or a lifestyle management company, that brings clients closer to the things they need most. Like most of Dallas, I consider Jackson a friend. If nothing else, the man inspires us all to be the best we can be at all things.

Jackson is a true Dallas icon, and today he needs us. Jackson recently suffered a stroke leaving him paralyzed on half his body. The tone and lean Jackson will no doubt recover, but like many of us who operate our own businesses Jackson does not have health insurance and his bills are mounting by leaps and bounds daily.  Continue reading

Chef Graham Dodds’ Plow & Vine Dinner for Eden Creek Farm

I spoke with Central 214’s executive chef Graham Dodds some months ago about Eden Creek Farms. They experienced a particularly rough 2011 due to the drought, and 2012 hasn’t been any easier. At that time Dodds mentioned that Steve and Kristine Orth might actually give up on their farming efforts, and it would be sad to lose this organic, bio-dynamic, bio-intensive and sustainable source of produce.     Continue reading
