Hitchcock Inspired Evening at Henry’s Majestic Aug 13

hitch1

Alfred Hitchcock was known as the Master of Suspense and over the course of his 50-year career fashioned for himself a distinctive and recognizable directorial style. Henry’s Majestic will pay tribute to the Master on what would have been his 116th birthday with a 4-course dinner on August 13, 2015 beginning at 7PM. Henry’s Majestic Chef, Roe DiLeo and Alex Fletcher, Beverage Director, have created a menu with cocktail pairings inspired by four classic Hitchcock films that will take attendees on a journey of the mind and the palate.

The cost is $75 per person and reservations are required. Please call 908. 451. 9598 to claim your seat. Henry’s Majestic is located at 4900 McKinney Ave, Dallas.  Continue reading

Chef Roe DiLeo Talks About Hell’s Kitchen, How To Grill A Steak, And Where To Find Her Favorite Burger

DSC06051by Steven Doyle

Chef Roe DiLeo has this amazing talent for not only cooking, but making her patrons extremely happy. This is what she is doing as not only the chef at the new Henry’s Majestic in Uptown Dallas, but also as the general manager. This melding of front and back of the house is not entirely common, but DiLeo seems to manage with grace. It is the same grace we witnessed on her recent television gig when she appeared on the current season of Hell’s Kitchen (season 13) where she made it to the top five of all the chefs.

While filming Hell’s Kitchen there was a particular task of making a steak dish, which was judged by Chef Ramsay, along with guests Bruce Simon and Todd Simon, the owners of Omaha Steaks. Each dish would be judged by its appearance, and eaten only if they felt the dish looked favorable. DiLeo’s dish passed the appearance test, and eventually she won the contest with not one, but two steaks she had plated. Never challenge a chef from Dallas when it comes to beef.   Continue reading

Henry’s Majestic or: How I Stopped Worrying And Loved The Burger

20141214_140722_1by Steven Doyle

Settling into brunch at Henry’s Majestic yesterday, I sat down thinking of a traditional eggy dish offered such as the tantalizing sounding al pastor Benedict (a concoction made of crisped arepas, lime crema,a pair of poached eggs, avocado and a generous sprinkling of cotija cheese), or perhaps the offering of peppered pastrami hash  served up with Vital Farms eggs. This did not happen.

Instead I was enticed by my sly waitress, Brittany, to check out the burger. Let me interject that she is one of my very favorite servers in Dallas, and she has this uncanny ability to read what I might want to devour on any particular day. I ordered the burger. Henry’s chef, Roe DiLeo described the burger to me recently, and I was taken back with the very thought of her particular version.   Continue reading

Trigger’s Toy Fete A Smashing Success

DSC05714by Steven Doyle

In September of 2008, bar industry veteran Bryan Townsend and his pup Trigger joined forces to contribute to local area hospitals’ Animal Assisted program, which gives children the opportunity to interact with a friendly pet during their time at the hospital. After a few visits, Bryan realized the positive impact a simple visit from a dog like Trigger could have on these children undergoing therapy. As a result, he has created an additional charitable program called Trigger’s Toys.

The purpose of Trigger’s Toys is to bring further joy to the lives of hospitalized children by opening up doors for toy donations and monetary donations from the community; bringing childhood nostalgia to an environment that needs it. A visit from a kind-hearted dog like Trigger, or a toy to play with can make the world of difference in a day for a sick young person at the hospital.  Continue reading

First Look: Henry’s Majestic Opens Tomorrow, Oct 21st

henry'sby Steven Doyle

Henry’s Majestic has a funny, quirky name, but starting tomorrow guests will enjoy some serious eats and drinks from this new restaurant that will be cheffed and managed by Roe DiLeo. This New Jersey native created a name for herself locally as the chef at The Libertine Bar and was most recently at Boulevardier in Bishop Arts, and also is currently appearing as a contestant on TV’s Hell’s Kitchen.

The rustic interior gives off a relaxing feel, much like it has in its past incarnations at 4900 McKinney Avenue. But this is a fresh start for the building with some pretty amazing talent that has been assembled to operate the restaurant including Alex Fletcher who is managing the bar program. Fletcher is a recognizable name on the Dallas craft cocktail scene and his work at Victor Tango’s earned him the reputation as one of the best bartenders in Dallas. Fletcher also crafted his skills at The People’s Last Stand.

Just sample his Headless Manhattan made up of pumpkin infused whiskey, amaro, bitters and pumpkin seed. You will be convinced. Fletcher also offers a very well rounded brew selection.
