Volunteer For Days Of Taste

What originally began as a two week event held at the Dallas Farmers Market twice each year has now been sliced to a single week. The Days of Taste is an instructive life-skills learning opportunity for 4th and 5th grade elementary students in Dallas public schools.

Through the Days of Taste program, students have the opportunity to explore the nuances of taste through the five senses with a tasting component guided by a chef, a visit with a local farmer to discover the wealth and variety of products grown and that are available locally, and prepare a Harvest salad using fresh produce that the they have purchased themselves at the Dallas Farmer’s Market.   Continue reading

Two Special Events At The Grape This Week

Not one but two wine dinners you might like to check out this week at The Grape, located on Greenville Avenue in Dallas. The first hosts a special guest from  Bouchaine Vineyards in Napa Valley, Mike Richmond on Tuesday, March 27.

A Dallas native, Mike Richmond has over 30 years’ experience in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir production in the Carneros including his founding Acacia Winery. Richmond and the Bouchaine winemaking team have updated both farming and winemaking to bring the wines to a new standard of excellence at the historic winery.     Continue reading

Rahr Hoops and Hops Pub Crawl

Camp Bowie District and Rahr & Sons Brewing Company are sponsoring a pub crawl Monday, April 2, 2012 starting at 6pm. For a mere $6 you get started with a commemorative Rahr pint glass, then each beer afterwards will run you another $3 each.

Each leg of the crawl will feature a different beer paired with a special edible. Oscar’s Pub will be featuring Texas Red, an ultra smooth amber lager that will pair well with flatbread offered for $5.   Continue reading

Dallas Chefs To Dish At Paul Quinn College

Kick off the weekend of Earth Day between the end zones of the “WE over Me Farm at Paul Quinn College,” for “A Community Cooks,” an annual fundraising event that offers a fun, eco-friendly evening of live music and fine dining on the newly re-named Farm on April 19 at 6 p.m.

“A Community Cooks” celebrates the Farm’s accomplishments and raises resources to help expand the Farm’s ability to combat the food desert surrounding Paul Quinn College. The Farm brings healthy food to the neighborhood by donating a minimum of 10 percent of all items grown to those in need.  Continue reading

Taste Dallas by Chocolate Tours
