Beat The Heat Contest At Hypnotic

by Steven Doyle

You must give the folks at Hypnotic some props. They know how to promote their product well and they make a mean donut. Today we are sent word that they are hosting a donut eating contest, but with a kick.

To win this contest you need to eat the most donuts in 10 minutes, but there is a catch. As each donut is presented to the contestant it gets spicier and spicier – to the point of extreme. The winner receives the distinction of being the first to win the inaugural competition and a free Mexico donut each week through the end of 2012.   Continue reading

Friday’s Five Fabulous Food Finds

by Steven Doyle

Each week we scour the city in search of the very best Dallas has to offer. We check into restaurants both old and new looking for interesting food to discuss with you so you can make handy decision when dining out.

We do not necessarily write up each item we enjoy, and often have photos that we will save for another week. However, we will share some of the most awe-inspiring dishes on Friday in what we like to call Friday’s Five Fabulous Food Finds.     Continue reading

Celebrate National Donut Day In Style

by Steven Doyle

There was a time when I could freely eat a box of donuts at one sitting, this was when I was in high school. I went to W.T. White in north Dallas and we had a donut shop called Nelson’s. I would pass by the tiny shop located near LBJ on the south side of Midway and order a small box from the elderly nelson couple on the way to school nearly every day. They have since sold the shop and the donuts are not the same.  Donuts never will be as good as they were when I was 15

Today is National Donut Day and we want to celebrate in true style. We have assembled a short list of some of our favorites in the Dallas area and hope you join us by scarfing a box.          Continue reading

Hypnotic Donuts Does Biscuits Too

by Steven Doyle

Donuts might not be the most politically correct food that you might choose, but when did that ever stop us. Seriously, donuts filled with imagination as well as plenty of bacon, Cap’n Crunch or jalapenos cannot be wrong and Hypnotic Donuts hit’s the spot.

When you meet donut mogul and owner James St. Peter you can’t help but sport a smile. This man is seriously the Willy Wonka of fried dough and seems to meet each day with verve which is spoon-fed by his artistry. This leaves his customers in total fascination. St. Peter’s product is total comfort food at its finest.     Continue reading
