The James Beard Awards, often called “the Oscars of food,” stand as one of the highest honors in the culinary world. Each year, the James Beard Foundation acknowledges the best in restaurants, bars, and hospitality, with categories that celebrate Outstanding Restaurant, Best Chef, and Best New Chef, among others. On April 2, 2025, the highly anticipated list of finalists for this year’s awards was revealed, and Dallas and Fort Worth have several notable contenders.

Outstanding Chef: Stephan Pyles, Stephan Pyles Restaurant
Best Chef Southwest: Teiichi Sakurai, Tei-An and Jason Maddy, Oak

Last night we were inundated with news from New York and the 2012 James Beard Foundation Awards. There was only one chef cooking for the gala from Texas and it was our own top chef Tre Wilcox from Marquee Grill. Tre was at the Chef for Farmers event all day Sunday , then hopped a plane bound for New York in time to start cooking for that event. Continue reading
