New Area Restaurant and Bar Openings

There are a few new restaurant and bar openings that sprung up this week. We have a few details, but will be checking these out alongside you all this weekend.

Shell Shack opened for business yesterday in Uptown, just in time for TX/OU weekend. This is a marvelous casual seafood restaurant that serves crab, shrimp, crawfish all seasoned with various degrees of heat.  This is in the space formerly occupied by the ill-fated The Stand. The menu at Shell Shack says if you order your crabs Uptown Style they will shell the meat for you, with each pound netting 6 to 8 ounces.   Continue reading

Be The First To Sample The New Menu At Private|Social Free

Chef Najat Kaanache has been under remarkable fire in the past few days with the announcement of the retooling of Private Social or P|S. We are fairly certain it reverted back to Private|Social, an name I actually thought was witty. It describes the restaurant perfectly.

You can read about the craziness at the Uncle Nancy website, where even the bad stuff gets a beating now and again. I will agree the P|S menu was over-the-top and for the most part inedible, even for this adventuresome eater. The chicken wings at the bar were thrilling, however.   Continue reading

Cafe Brazil Closing McKinney Location

Cafe Brazil is announcing the closure of their McKinney store, located at 3190 South Central Expressway in McKinney, Texas.

“We have enjoyed a great 7-year run and thank everyone who has been a part of it,” says Brant Wood, Chairman and CEO of Cafe Brazi. “Our lease expires at the end of this month, and unfortunately, we were unable to come to an agreement with the landlord that will allow us to operate profitably. Our last day of operations will be Sunday, July 29. We hope to replace this location somewhere in the area in the near future. Until then, customers can visit us at any of our other 10 Metroplex locations including Plano and Richardson.”      Continue reading
