Luna de Noche Partners with NTFB

by Crave Staff

Beginning today until Oct. 14, Luna de Noche and the North Texas Food Bank will team up against hunger to commemorate National Food Bank Week, which is Oct. 9 – 15. To help raise awareness and products for NTFB, guests are asked for a donation of five or more cans, or other non-perishable items, at any of the six Luna de Noche locations in Dallas, Garland, Plano and Rockwall. In return, Luna de Noche will give a free order of its award-winning shredded beef or shredded chicken nachos.

“With six successful locations in different communities across Dallas, I know we can both create some awareness for National Food Bank Week, and for the North Texas Food Bank in their fight against hunger,” said Luna de Noche Director of Operations Henry Hashem. “Together, our guests and their mission can unite behind this one important cause and make a difference.”   Continue reading →

These tiny reminders that can be sparked by the inclusion of an ingredient or dish that sets you wandering to that meal long ago. Maybe you are this way, I know I am.

Recently I enjoyed a late night nosh at The Grape with a few friends and I spied just such a dish. The Crispy Arancini that chef Luscher makes with house-made bacon, fontina and scallions was the perfect send up to the appetizer.     Continue reading →

Texas Rangers Eat Octopus Balls

By Steven Doyle

Reality television is all around Dallas. It’s hard to make a turn in a Dallas night club without bumping into the latest film crew. That is why we were a bit perplexed to hear a crew was filming at TJ’s Seafood Market on Preston Road today.

As it turns out a crew from Japan is in town filming a set on two Texas Ranger players who are from Japan. There pitchers Koji Uehara and Yoshinori Tateyama are legends and the Osaka film crew are in Dallas to pay homage to the players.  Continue reading →

Fair Fries Flapjacks

by Crave Staff

For many the Texas State Fair means a large variety of music, pie baking contests, and bragging rights for the rancher with the largest hog. These are traditional fair-going events that have brought generations together since 1886.

Most who have visited the largest party in Texas are familiar with the sights and sounds of the Midway that is greeted by the 52 foot cowboy loved by all called Big Tex. Tex wasn’t always employed by the State, but was born and raised in Kerens, Texas and made to shill the Christmas holiday for the small Texas town dressed as Santa. It took local luminary R.L. Thorton to convince the tall Texan to move to Dallas and the Texas giant hasn’t looked back since.  Continue reading →
