Jon Bonnell Celebrates His Restaurant’s 11th Anniversary

It’s been a fruitful 11 years for Chef Jon Bonnell, owner of his namesake restaurant, Bonnell’s Fine Texas Cuisine. Today the chef celebrates his anniversary of the restaurant in grand style, and will be pouring from his mammoth bottle until it runs dry.

Bonnell is native to Fort Worth with a rich family history. He graduated from Vanderbilt with the notion of being a school teacher. After a few years of teaching math and science, the chef took off to study at the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont. This is the same school attended as Dallas chef Abraham Salum and Food Network’s Alton Brown.   Continue reading

Los Vaqueros To Open New Location In Fort Worth

Fort Worth’s Los Vaqueros restaurant has leased the former Old Rips restaurant for their second location.  The latest incarnation of the restaurant will be on the southeast corner of West Berry Street and Cockrell Avenue, just east of South University Drive, in Fort Worth.  This space is adjacent to Fuzzy’s Taco Shop and Toppers Pizza.  Neighboring retailers include Kroger, Barnes & Noble and CVS/pharmacy.    Continue reading

Nickel & Nickel Wines Pair Well With Del Frisco

Attending a winemaker dinner has several layers of opportunity for the average food and wine enthusiast. First, you generally meet an educated winemaker or vineyard owner. This is a special opportunity to chat one on one and feel the passion behind the wines you select. These winemakers can also give hints on upcoming wine lots that may be limited and other advice on wines they enjoy through their extensive travels. This was certainly the case last evening as Del Frisco’s in Fort Worth hosted Andrew Delos, winemaker from Nickel and Nickel out of Napa Valley.

The most interesting point of Nickel and Nickel is that their wines are not blended but instead dedicated exclusively to producing 100 percent varietal, single-vineyard wines that best express the distinct personality of each vineyard. This gives you a tour of Napa Valley through the series of those single vineyards.   Continue reading
