It’s Friday the 13th and for some superstitious types might considered this day unlucky. But we have sampled a few dishes this week that with even the smallest shred of luck you might want to sample and turn all that Bad Joss around. Continue reading

Hey George Hamilton, They Are Opening A Zorro’s Buffet In Hurst
While researching new restaurant listings in the Dallas-Fort Worth area I noticed that another chapter of the Texas buffet Zorro’s was opening in Hurst. This might not be typical fodder for the average craveDFW reader, but since George Hamilton is in Dallas through April 22 while on tour with La Cage Aux Folles, I thought it might be befitting that the star of the riotous film Zorro the Gay Blade check out the small restaurant chain known for daily buffet sirloin steaks. Barbour Wine Dinner Hosted at Grace
Recently we were invited to be the guest of Adam Jones and Carolyn Grace Jones at their beautiful restaurant in Fort Worth, Grace, for a very special dinner featuring the wines of Barbour Vineyards. Adam is a long time restaurateur and Carolyn is the inspiration, designer and namesake of the restaurant.
At the dinner we not only met vineyard owner, Jim Barbour, but also Celia Welch his winemaker. Welch is one of North America’s most highly regarded winemakers and has earned a reputation for crafting distinctive wines that express the unique qualities and characteristics of each vineyard. Holiday Vignettes: Nanci Taylor
Nanci Taylor, Publisher of Edible Dallas & Fort Worth magazine is starting her third season of production. Nanci’s passion is to promote local food and its sources and artisans, throughout the North Texas area. You may find free copies of the quarterly on stands Whole Foods and North Haven Gardens, as well as many other locations around DFW.You may also read each issue online.
As I have traveled around the city speaking to owners and chefs of Dallas restaurants, many often refer to Nanci as one who carries the torch for the local food movement we have been experiencing over the past few years. I appreciate her enthusiasm and dedication to the cause, and any involvement I have personally as a locavore comes inspired by Nanci. Continue reading

Winter Is Here! Keep It A Safe One
by Red Alert
The holiday season is about the weather changing, being thankful, spending time with family, giving back, celebrating Christmas, Hannakuh, Kwanzaa and more, and, in my case at least, eating — too much. With old man winter coming to visit, it’s an opportunity for Red Cross to educate and remind us about how to be safe as we’re driving, shopping, cooking and entertaining. Read more at Red Alert…

Jake’s at the New FW Food Park
Jake’s has been on the Dallas burger scene since 1985, and they have been fairly busy lately. Jake’s only recently celebrated their grand opening on Henderson with a completely new building being raised, and now they are part of the food truck culture as they join Fort Worth today at the grand opening of the Food Truck Park.
The Food Park opens tonight at 6pm with plenty of fanfare including free beer from Rahr Brewing. Other trucks expected to be at the opening include Good Karma Kitchen, YES! Taco, Nammi Truck, Lee’s Grilled Cheeses and Red Jett Sweets. Continue reading
