Texas Chef Association Bake Sale

It was a sweet sight to see the ladies and gentlemen of the Texas Chefs Association, young and old, join together for the most delicious bake sale ever held. For the 25th year in a row, TCA members from Collin College, Wylie high school, Art Institute of Dallas, Le Cordon Bleu, Remmington College, and a variety of Dallas’ gem venues provided the best products from their hotels, restaurants, and schools for this extraordinary event. Feast of the Seven Fishes at Urban Crust

Urban Crust will be serving an amazing three course dinner this Christmas Eve. The Feast of the Seven Fishes originates from the Medieval Roman Catholic Italians who refrained from eating red meat during the sacred holidays and instead enjoyed a feast of seven types of fish on Christmas Eve. Urban Crust will compose a dinner of several types of fish including mussels, calamari, octopus, shrimp, scallops, crab meat, sea bass, tuna, salmon and flounder.    Continue reading

2011 Dallas NYE Suggestions

Santa Rampage Schedule for Today

If you didn’t plan for a Santa suit this year, do not despair. You may still join the Santa Rampage tonight and we have their schedule. The rampage begins at Lee Harvey’s at 3pm and will move to the Art’s District at 7:30pm via DART rail and enjoy the various food trucks that will be awaiting them. The trucks include 3 Men and a Taco, Easyslider, Jack’s Chowhound and Cup Cakin. We are told this is where the reindeer high jinx will take place (think pillow fights and the like).     Continue reading

Ruth’s Chris Event Benefits Minnie’s Food Pantry

Put this on your to-do list for the season and join Ruth’s Chris Steak House on December 19 at 6:00. It could be your first stop to put you in the Holiday spirit.The event offers food and drinks with 100% of proceeds benefiting the Minnie’s Food Pantry in Plano. Tickets are $20 at the door.

The mission of Minnie’s Food Pantry is to provide good quality name brand food, meals, and respect to all hunger insecure families in the community. A $25,000 commitment is to be raised by Christmas Day.

Abraham Salum on Tamales

We are knee deep into the holiday season. For restaurateurs this is the busiest time of year as they cater parties and enjoy increased traffic. This is also the height of tamale season, so we set out to find some of the city’s best tamales and share our findings with you over the next few weeks.

The 24th Annual Children’s Medical Center Holiday Parade

The 24th annual Children’s Medical Center Holiday Parade presented by Capital One Bank and Pizza Hut Inc. will march through the streets of downtown Dallas December 3 to raise money for the Child Life Department at Children’s. This year’s parade will feature spirited marching bands, magical holiday floats, larger-than-life balloons and more. Continue reading
