People’s Choice Award: Seafood

This weeks People’s Choice Award finds us looking for something a bit fishy.  Where do you run for your seafood fix?  Be it a fried filet of catfish, tender halibut, or the very best in crab cakes.  The best location might include all these things and more.

So tell us where to get the freshest oysters, largest lobsters or crunchy and sweet shrimp cocktail.   Crawfish boil, lobster bakes, bounty of mussels and mountains of crab awaits your approval.

What is your favorite seafood haunt? It’s up to you to choose Dallas Fort-Worth. We ask for these awards that you limit your votes to those that are primarily in the category we choose.

Goodfriend Preview Party

Cafe Momentum Serves 85 in Pop-Up Dinner

Café Momentum  is a non-profit restaurant concept that serves as a culinary training facility for the disadvantaged. The primary focus is on the Dallas County Youth Village, a juvenile detention facility for 13-17 year old non-violent adjudicated young boys. With the help of the Youth Village Resources of Dallas created a culinary program within the facility that is currently teaching the students basic culinary skills. Upon completing the program, the students graduate to a paid position working in the Youth Village cafeteria.  Continue reading →

Cocktail Competition Pilot Shot in Dallas

Since we just cannot get enough of our local celebrity bartenders, we bring you good tidings of great joy that surrounds one of our favorite barmen, Eddie “Lucky” Campbell who recently started his corporate gig as beverage director at Bailey’s Prime Plus.

We caught wind of some of his activities this weekend that included an appearance on a reality show pilot that was filmed at the Candle Room called Cocktail Confidential. Consider this television’s answer to Top Chef but with a pearl onion garnish.

The trial run went well with barmen Lucky, Abe Bedell from Victor Tango, Sonny from Cedars Social, and David Mayer “Tiki Dave” of the Usual Bar in Fort Worth who all competed in what Nico Martini, the producer and creator of the program,  hopes will be picked up by one of the networks they are shopping.  Continue reading →
