Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar Now Open at The Star in Frisco

Texas’ original House of Song, Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar, has closed their Addison location and opened their new location at The Star in Frisco at 6765 Winning Drive #810, Frisco, TX 75034. The new location offers a larger space and the newest technology to provide guests with a state-of-the-art Pete’s experience.

Pete’s recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, as their first location opened in Austin’s historic Sixth Street in 1992 as a one-man show. There are now four locations throughout Texas and one location in Chicago.

Dallas Mavericks Launch 40-Day Reading Challenge Program

The Mavs Reading Challenge, presented by Whataburger, is back to encourage the love of reading for kids of all ages. In an effort to improve reading literacy throughout North Texas, the Mavericks and Whataburger are challenging students, grades K-12, to join the program by reading 20 minutes a day, starting today through Mar. 31. All participants who log 20 minutes a day for at least 40 days will have the opportunity to receive the Whataburger Completion Certificate and a free meal from participating locations, as well as a Mavs swag bag.

The meatball most Americans encounter are this fat, round composition of ground meats. It works best when made from a combination of lean ground beef and fatty ground pork or veal  along with moist bread or breadcrumbs, herbs, cheese, and a spot of egg to bind the whole mess together. Drenched in marinara and served atop a bowl of spaghetti, the meatball is a staple of Italian restaurants across America.

The secret is day-old bread, soaked in milk or water, to bring lightness to the mixture. When you cook beef, pork or veal for too long, it starts to get tougher. But the bread in meatballs never gets tough. Use a lot of bread and your meatballs will be perfectly tender. Some chefs contend a 50/50 mix. Continue reading
