Italian-ish Eatery Opens Maximalist Bar Charles

On Tuesday, December 10, Design District Italian nightly eatery, The Charles, will open its private dining and cocktail and champagne bar aptly named, Bar Charles. The 1,700 square foot space is nestled on the backside of the authentic restaurant – with entry through the back alleyway.

“I would describe Bar Charles as turned up,” said Chas Martin, The Charles owner and natural-born host. “Everything from the design to the music, to the champagne selection is maximized. This new space is truly a feast for the senses,” added Martin. Continue reading

Team at Doublewide to Open Thunderbird Station

For 16 years, locals and vagabonds alike from Deep Ellum, Dallas and beyond have enjoyed top-tier drinks and shows at Double Wide. Every now and then, the team at Double Wide would look across the street to the historic service station nestled on Commerce Street that formerly housed a concept called Bowls and Tacos.

Fluff Bake Bar In Houston Makes Us Smile

I know we do not chat much about Houston very often, even though they are truly packed with these amazing restaurants and watering holes, but we  absolutely must tell you travelers, and the few Houstonians we know who read us, about Fluff Bake Bar.

Born in Laramie, Wyoming (isn’t that where Michael Martensen is from?), Rebecca realized at an early age that baking would become more than a hobby. In 1999, she attended Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France, earning a Diplôme de Pâtisserie and soon securing a coveted internship at Hotel le Bristol. Norma’s Continues Free Thanksgiving Tradition

This year, Norma’s Cafe, Dallas’ dining icon that has served DFW home cooking for more than 63 years, continues a 31 year long tradition as it opens its Oak Cliff doors on Thursday, Nov. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for its annual free Thanksgiving dinner.

Guests taking part in the free Thanksgiving dinner will be served a feast of holiday favorites, including turkey and dressing with giblet gravy and cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, English peas, salad, rolls, fruit and dessert. The free meal will only be available at the original Norma’s Cafe Oak Cliff location on 1123 W. Davis Street in Dallas.
