For food competitors and rising star chefs, the kickoff of World Food Championships (WFC) on Wednesday is similar to largest talent audition on the planet. For foodies in Dallas, it might quickly become our official “Food Week.”

The 8th Annual WFC will attract over 1500 chefs and cooks to Dallas for a chance at TV fame and a slice of the $350,000 grand prize. Beyond that, organizers of the event have developed a smorgasbord of activities that will keep any true foodie delighted during the five-day tournament of culinary champions. Continue reading

Klyde Warren Park Announces Expansion

The Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation (WRPF) and VisitDallas today announced an innovative partnership that will complete the original vision of Klyde Warren Park.

The estimated $76 million project adds 1.2 acres over Woodall Rodgers Freeway, just west of St. Paul Street. This land will be used for a 20,000-square-foot pavilion that will house the state-of-the-art VisitDallas Experience Center, a Visitor Center unlike any other in the U.S., fusing “best in class” customer service with interactive technology that tells the Dallas story.  The expansion will include additional green spaces and public gathering spots, assist with the Park’s long-term financial sustainability, and allow the privately-operated park to expand the more than 1,300 free programs and events it already provides annually. Stirr Fort Worth Opening Oct 22

Milkshake Concepts, the hospitality group behind Vidorra, Citizen and now Serious Pizza, will officially open STIRR’s second location in Fort Worth, Texas on October 22, 2019. It will be located at Crockett & University in the former Kona Grill space at the corner of the West 7th district. This modern American restaurant, patio and rooftop bar originally opened in Dallas, Texas in the Deep Ellum neighborhood serving up chef driven dishes and creative cocktails.  Continue reading

Mudhen Set to Close Nov 3

Mudhen Meat and Greens, the healthful eatery located in the heart of the Dallas Farmers Market will close on Sunday, November 3.

“I apologize to all the folks in Dallas who appreciate clean and healthy options. I apologize to the vegans and vegetarians, locavores, paleophiles and keto-maniacs! We tried very hard to give you healthful options but in the end we were not successful in attracting enough people to drive all the way down to the Farmers Market to eat,” says Shannon Wynne. One Night of Queen at Winspear March 6

AT&T Performing Arts Center announced today that tickets for One Night of Queen will go on sale Friday, October 18 at 10 a.m. One Night of Queen, performed by Gary Mullen & The Works, is a touring 2-hour stage show paying tribute to the stage theatrics and music of Queen.

One Night of Queen will perform for one night only at 8 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Winspear Opera House in the downtown Dallas Arts District. Continue reading

Generations have celebrated certain restaurants in Dallas, enjoying the cuisine that made Dallas strong and certainly has given it character. Today we pay homage to a select handful of these Dallas classics and hope you will continue to enjoy them as time honors them with continued success.

I recall some old favorites including  Zeider Zee, The Beefeater, Prince of Burgers and Southern Kitchen. Perhaps you have some memories of restaurants that come to mind.

Most importantly is the event’s mission to raise money for Trigger’s Toys, a non-profit organization that provides aid to hospitalized children and their families.
