Norma’s Celebrates 62 Years

Norma’s Cafe, a Dallas dining icon, will celebrate its 62nd “birthday” at all five locations with several promotions throughout June. Each cafe will offer 3 menu favorites for the throwback price of $1.79 on June 25th in addition to a partnership with local non-profit, The Birthday Party Project (TBPP), a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating the magic of birthdays by partnering with homeless and transitional shelters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to throw birthday celebrations for children living in the shelters.

On June 20th, a portion of sales from all five locations will be donated directly to TBPP. Guests can find more information about the fundraising day here. Can’t make it to fundraising day? Norma’s has yellow donation piggy banks at each location and will be collecting donations throughout the entire month of June. Tim Byres Opening New Concept At Legacy Hall

The first floor of the European-style food hall will soon be home to Tight Quarters – the first of its kind. This labor of love from award-winning Chef Tim Byres will offer a variety of natural, whole and unprocessed food that is full of attitude and style.

This might come as a surprise to fans of Chef Byres, who is most commonly known as the culinary mastermind behind the restaurants SMOKE and Chicken Scratch – some serious meat-centric concepts. Widely regarded as an expert in cooking with wood and fires, Byres has been invited to represent his craft by some of the country’s most respected food programs, including The ChewMeatopiaBizarre Foods America and Man Fire Food. In 2012, Byres was named the southwest Food & Wine Magazine’s “People’s Best New Chef” and in 2014, his book “Smoke: New Firewood Cooking” won for the prestigious James Beard Award. Continue reading

This Father’s Day CraveDFW has partnered with The Meat Shop, the sole outlet for the Rosewood Ranches’ certified all-natural, hormone-free, antibiotic-free, grass-fed, and grain-finished Wagyu Beef. This beef makes for a terrific day by the pool, sharing with friends and family, and certainly to celebrate Dad.

Before our party started we stopped in at The Meat Shop, located in a tiny European-style market at 4410 West Lovers Lane. Here you will find freshly butchered cuts of glorious beef, Droc pork (typically found on better menus at your favorite restaurants), all-natural chickens, house-made charcuterie and smoked meats, and a selection of cheeses.  Continue reading

Deep Ellum Sells to Canarchy Craft Brewing

On June 8, 2018 Deep Ellum Brewing Company was sold Canarchy Craft Brewing for an undisclosed amount of money. Canarchy owns Oskar Blues out of Lyons, Colorado, Perrins from Michigan, Cigar Brewing from Florida, and Wasatch & Squatters from Utah.

The sale allows Deep Ellum to continue its fast track growth path enabling further additions to the building and growth out of Texas.  Continue reading
