Ten Bells Tavern Midnight Food Binge Continues With The Banh Mi

Midnight’s at Ten Bells Tavern in Bishop Arts is becoming the fashionable place to dine. This is where a list of chefs have occasionally lined up to take over the kitchen and feed the hungry masses with what is sometimes an experiment to gauge interest, as in the many ramen nights with Justin Holt, or simply to have fun doing what they do best, as in the case of chef April Barney who recently had her turn at the midnight shift at Ten Bells with her version of chicken and waffles.

I just heard from local chef Cody Sharp and he said it is time he made his favorite sandwich, the Banh Mi.  Continue reading

A Visit To Nick And Sam’s Grill

Looking for a quick bite this weekend I found myself in Nick and Sam’s Grill on Preston. I am a huge fan of the Nick and Sam’s Steak House on Maple, but in the past had found the Grill a bit lacking. Chef Scott Romano was brought in recently to spruce up the brand a bit, and that he has done.

Along with his crew of executive chefs Romano has elevated the Grill menus to something pretty special. I am still not a fan of the flatbread found on the Uptown menu as it is more a fat pizza than what you might traditionally call flatbread. But that being said, what I found on Preston this past weekend was endearing.   Continue reading

Small Plates At Snack

Sometimes when you are out dining you simply want a snack. Small plates is actually my favorite way to dine, you get so many different flavors packed into one meal. If variety is the spice of life then Snack Global Kitchen and Bar is a whole lot of living.

As we had mentioned in our first look at Snack, it is a global kitchen, which basically means the kitchen staff can create anything they wish and be as imaginative as possible. This is genius.

We stopped into Snack late Sunday evening just before closing and the staff was winding down from a busy day. Sous chef Cody Sharp was at the helm and we are always pleased to see this firecracker of a chef. After graduating from Cordon Bleu Sharp took his first line position at Rockwall’s Restaurant Ava and simultaneously started working part time for Katherine Clapner at Dude, Sweet Chocolate in Bishop Arts.       Continue reading
