Fork Fight Finale Ends With 400 Happy Diners

DSC09605by Steven Doyle

Last night’s Fork Fight in Trinity Groves was the most heated battle to date. It also marked the finish of the series which helped introduced thousands of people to an up close view of what will to come to the new dining and entertainment area in West Dallas. Kudos to Mark Brezinski and Bob Sambol for running a smooth and delicious event to break up the summer and give us all an experience we will remember for years to come.

That said, there could only be one ultimate winner. Chino Chinatown took the victory. They competed against Beignet Bridge Club, which will open early in 2014 and serve meals all day including breakfast, lunch and dinner. The victory was a well fought campaign that lead Chino through the ranks of new restaurants opening very soon in Trinity Groves, with the ultimate fight against veteran chef Sharon Van Meter.    Continue reading

Lark on the Park Hosting Brooklyn Beer

garrett-oliverby Steven Doyle

Lark on the Park has quickly become one of our restaurant treasures. The food is always spot on, the cocktails are fantastic, and best of all it is one of the easiest restaurants to get in and out of despite the nearby construction. Always park in the garage just to the right of the front door for speedy valet in and out.

All that aside, Lark on the Park will host world-renowned Brooklyn Brewery brewmaster Garrett Oliver for a specially curated beer experience Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at its location at 2015 Woodall Rodgers Freeway across from Klyde Warren Park. A special dinner will follow where you will enjoy six beers and menu selections prepared by the Lark chefs.    Continue reading

Kenny Visits Ruth’s Chris For A Cocktail Dinner

KK_23_2013_08_Ruth_Cris-9by Kenny Kuczwaj

Recently I was an invited guest at a Ruth’s Chris cocktail dinner. I get to go to a lot of these type dinners, mostly wine pairings with some decent food pairings. Going to a craft cocktail pairings with different foods seemed like fun since even I  “the number one rated wine czar” gets tired of the grape juice . I also have been asking all the great bartenders who come on the Crave Radio show what food would you match these often fabulous cocktails they create. The answers are often all over the map but they seem to make sense.   Continue reading

Hotel-St_-Germainby Andrew Chalk

Dallas’ favorite romantic boutique hotel and restaurant is set to roll out some unusual and exciting dinners over the next few months. Fancy dining in the adopted home of Ernest Hemingway? How about recipes from Jacqueline Kennedy’s wedding and state dinners in ‘Camelot’? Or experience the life of curators who saved art from being the prize of military invaders in world war two. Each dinner at the Hotel St Germain is for one or two nights only and requires a special reservation. The intimate dining room is sure to sell out so call (214) 871-2516 before the places are gone.

Luckily, a bottle floated up on the beach near our Tahiti offices and inside was a press release with the full details.      Continue reading

New Fry Burger Is A Yawner

fry burgerby Steven Doyle

While most fast food restaurants are enticing customers with meaty bacon slices and pretzel buns, number three ranked Burger King is attempting to woo you with four French fries. The burger chain announced today that they are now offering a buck burger which consists of a meat patty, a bun and four fries. This is the type of innovation that will forever keep the King in third place.

On a happier note, you can get this burger delivered.
