Addison Oktoberfest Has Some Big Changes This Year

Oktoberfestby Steven Doyle

With a mere three weeks away the Addison Oktoberfest has some changes in the program worth noting. As in years past we will continue to keep our readers informed about one of  our favorite events in the area.

Here are the changes we have noted so far:

Chamberlain’s Brau Haus:  Richard Chamberlain takes over the VIP dining experience with a new tasting menu, special gifts and more. This is huge news.

The all new Draught Haus:  This replaces the former SportHalle (inside and around the Conference Centre) and will be designed and operated by State Fair fried food king Isaac Rousse (he of the fried Pop Tart and this year’s Fried Cuban Sandwich.)

Kaffee und Kuchen Haus update:  The team at Polk A Dot bakery takes over this favorite with an expanded bakery menu and more treats all weekend long.    Continue reading

van campby Andrew Chalk

When the Hilton Anatole announced that a steak house would go into the space once occupied by Nana they promised an establishment that would be an iconoclast in a town where steakhouse dining is an obsession. In its first year, Sēr has drawn rave reviews for Executive Chef Anthony Van Camp’s (that’s AVC to the cognoscenti) audacious and creative interpretation of the steak house genre and Russell Burkett’s polished wine and spirits service.    Continue reading

Great Divide Brewing Company is situated in downtown Denver, Colorado and started brewing in 1994. During that time, they have come up with some very serious beers for the discerning taste.  A total of twenty-four beers are available for the beer enthusiast to sample. Of these twenty-four; nine are available year round, three are barrel aged and the other twelve are available seasonally.

The one series of Great Divide that really stands out for dark, heavy beer lovers is the Yeti series.  Whether it is the Espresso Oak Aged, Chocolate Oak Aged or the regular Yeti, these beers do not disappoint.  Continue reading

Dallas Is Experiencing A Hospitality Labor Shortage

waitressby Steven Doyle

We are deluged with messages about various venues needing hospitality workers. The Rustic is set to open soon and have requested at least 50 people to wait tables. Yesterday we spoke with Parigi owner Janice Provost who is looking for a few people to wait tables. If you are a host or hostess it is a seller’s market. There are numerous positions for chefs throughout the city. The need seems to be a growing concern for area restaurateurs. Where will they find the capable hands to open these new restaurants?     Continue reading

Gene and Julie Gate’s restaurant Battuto Italian Kitchen is high on the restaurant hot list right now. The Italian restaurant located at Preston and Frankford just announced a new chef that will be creating new menu items, including a power lunch. I am thrilled to announce that chef Joel Harloff has officially taken the reigns.

You remember Harloff most recently from Ocho, as well as the Second Floor in the Westin Galleria. He also enjoyed accolades and 4 stars at Dali Wine bar as well as at the Melrose Hotel.   Continue reading
