A Chat with Kenny Bowers

by Steven Doyle           photos by Robert Bostick

We hooked up with Kenny Bowers, owner of Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill in Addison, Kenny’s Burger Joint in Frisco and for the past year Kenny’s Italian Kitchen, also in Addison.

Bowers is an engaging person who is excited about what he does for a living. He lives for food and restaurants, and it is with this passion that has carried him successfully through out his tenure in ownership. Bowers also walks the edge a bit, but that goes along with the personality that can work the outrageous hours that he does and still maintain control over each of his locations.

We enjoyed our conversation with chef Bowers and hope you do as well. This month marks the one-year anniversary for the Italian Kitchen and the six year anniversary for the Wood Fired Grill.   Continue reading

First Look: Stackhouse Burger

by Monica Rachel

Oh how I wish I could keep this place a secret. My husband Kevin and I are afraid that last night was the only time we’ll be able to get a table at Stackhouse Burger on the awesome second floor patio and see the view of Dallas. Yes – it is THAT good.

You’ve seen the menu I’m sure, so I don’t need to tell you about that. When we walked in around 8ish on their first day of soft opening, they were serving the full menu but had run out of Mac and Cheese.

What I was pleasantly surprised by were the drink options. They have about 8-10 different options each of white and red wines and several craft beers. I am so happy to find a place that I can go on a casual night and not be forced to choose between cheap wine or beer. I had a Cline Cashmere for $8 a glass.           Continue reading

Quest For Burgers: Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House

by Rob Banes

This week’s burger quest took us to east Dallas to visit Goodfriend Beer Garden & Burger House which is next door to Good 2 Go Taco on Peavy Road. Goodfriend is a neighborhood bar that features a great line up of burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs and appetizers to pair with drinks from their full service bar. After we parked, we noticed a large crowd seated on the large outdoor patio enjoying drinks and watching the beginning of Game 5 of the World Series.      Continue reading

Wachu Tacobot Willis? Lee Harvey’s

By Daniele Leahy       photos by Jacque Manaugh

What is better than good tacos you might ask? How’s this: CHEAP good tacos. Well they don’t come much cheaper than $1 so the next time a case of the Mondays rears it’s ugly head might I suggest making a bee-line to Lee Harvey’s for the chance to eat and drink your sorrows away.    Continue reading

Certainly Carl’s has a few locations across Dallas, one on Lemmon and the newest location on I30 in Garland, but to grab a free burger you will need to follow their food truck.    Continue reading
