Zhang’s Kitchen in Plano is a quiet powerhouse, operating with precision in a modest strip mall off Coit. The Peking duck is the centerpiece—no pretense, no ceremony, just a perfectly executed plate delivered with total confidence. The whole duck arrives sliced and arranged on one platter. The skin is deeply burnished, crisp without flaking apart, clinging to a thin layer of fat that dissolves as you chew. The meat is tender, deeply seasoned, and still moist, not hacked to oblivion like lesser versions. There’s no separation of stages—just a complete duck presentation that lets you assemble each pancake how you like, balancing rich slices with cucumber, scallion, and a dark, glossy hoisin that’s more earthy than sweet. It’s straightforward, tight, and deeply satisfying.

First launched in Highland Park in 2017, Hudson House quickly gained popularity for its classic American fare, daily raw bar, and its signature “World’s Coldest Martini.” The Frisco outpost will continue that tradition with favorites like the beloved cheeseburger, Chicken Parm, the American Tuna Tower, and the seafood-laden Bouquet platter from the raw bar.
