The weekend was crazy busy with activities including the second annual Blues, Bandits and BBQ held at Lake Cliff Park Saturday. The 2nd Annual Blues, Bandits and BBQ event will take place Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 and will be held at Lake Cliff Park. There’s lots of fun planned for this year, and lots of great changes and additions that will make this even more fun than last year.
The BBQ Teams have already started planning and practicing, and they will arrive Friday night to begin cooking. A few months back we checked into [rhost] the day they opened the Korean-style restaurant on Greenville Avenue in the space formerly of the disastrous fire that brought down the building taking with it four restaurants and bars. Today the new tenants are enjoying their tidy new spaces that have held true to the architecture of the neighborhood and adding new features such as roof top bars with funky elegance. As a Steeler’s fan chef TJ Lengnick doesn’t have much to say about the Dallas Cowboys, but he does appreciate a good whiskey.

Add in the specialty cocktails, impressive wine list and the mouth watering food then you might just be looking at your home away from home.
Originally starting out as a gourmet pizza restaurant Bracket’s has evolved in what they describe as an upscale eatery with a sports bar attitude. Chef Stefon Rishel has taken over and revamped the menu giving old sports bar classics a modern twist and just browsing the appetizers this becomes evident with items like braised short rib nachos and ahi tuna nachos. Still scouring the streets of New Orleans, which is never a bad thing, it was getting late and our party was looking for a little Southern hospitality that the Big Easy had to offer. Many of the locals pointed to The Ruby Slipper to help fill our welcoming needs along with a great meal. The cute building that housed The Ruby Slipper was warm and intimate. Essence of garlic emanating from the kitchen filled the room, assuring us that we had definitely made the right choice for dinner. Continue reading

There is something wonderful about picking up a rare IPA while talking to owners of local brew pubs as a jaguar hungrily paces just inches away and the sounds of the 80’s punctuate the air. Craft beer is alive in Dallas, people! Hear ye, hear ye!
This iteration of beer growth appeals to the masses and propels the craft beer movement into the mainstream. While many still believe that beer is beer and all pretty much tastes the same (“yuck! I hate beer!”), tasting events break down stereotypes and allow true comparison that assist in defining a beer palate while discovering how many variations in style there really are. Continue reading
