Clos Pegase Wine Dinner at Second Floor

Winemaker Richard Sowalsky and executive chef J Chastain will be working together for this 5 wine, 4 course meal. Bastille on Bishop

Go Oak Cliff, the City of Dijon, Alliance Francaise of Dallas and the French American Chamber of Commerce are partnering up July 14th to celebrate the 2nd Annual Bastille on Bishop! Head out to the Bishop Arts District from 6PM to 10PM to take part in the festivities which will include: a mussels competition with top area chefs, crepe stands in the street, live accordion music, petanque demonstrations, a wine walk, vespa rally, classic French cars, French maid relays and more! Tres Bien!

Crave’s food editor Steven Doyle will be one of the guest judges for the event.

It’s probably no secret we enjoy a glass of wine at Veritas or a beer at least once a week. It’s a nice place to unwind, but also a cool gathering of people from all walks of life. The tiny patio out front is always buzzing, and they have a fantastic wine and beerselection at fair prices.

We encourage you to jump to their website and sign up for email alerts as the team at Veritas stays busy with new ideas to keep things fresh. One of the ways is by using the hell out of owner Brook’s Hasty Bake oven.

An Anniversary to Remember

This past weekend I was fortunate to help celebrate the 10^th wedding anniversary of Sharon Van Meter and her husband Jerry Owens with their close friends and family.

You may know Van Meter from Milestone Culinary Arts Center, but she is also a very well respected chef who is a graduate of the Cordon Bleu, Paris, has been inducted in the honorable culinary societies of World Master Chefs Society, Les Dames d’Escoffier and Euro-Toques International. She has cheffed at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago and also is Director of New Projects Development for Food Network TV.

I am fortunate to know the couple and will admit that Sharon has been instrumental in guiding me with several projects. She is giving and benevolent as she is talented and loving.

With all that gushiness aside I wish to share a few photos from the couples special evening where they hosted about 30 for dinner at the Milestone this past weekend.

This event will take place Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Milestone Culinary Arts Center, 4531 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75205.
