It’s that time of year again! State Fair concessionaires are off to the races with a new lineup of incredible, edible innovations for the public to taste. The 14th Annual Big Tex® Choice Awards, presented by Vistaprint, is sure to offer a bite that pleases every appetite. From savory snacks to sweet treats, 2018’s assortment will not disappoint! Patrick Hildebrandt Named Texican Court Chef

Valencia Group’s Texican Court, is thrilled to announce that Patrick Hildebrandt has been appointed as executive chef of the retro-inspired court hotel located in Irving, Texas, slated to open fall 2018. Chef Hildebrandt will take his post later this month and create a menu that will feature original, inspired dishes with native Texan flavors that highlight a smoky element such as grilled pork chops, smoked polenta, charred shrimp and blistered tomatoes.  Continue reading

A Look At Republic’s Community Beer Dinner

There are times when you sit down to a meal that absolutely makes you grin. In this age where restaurants are popping up so quickly we hardly have a chance to sit back and explore what the chef is actually doing, but this is not the case at Republic which is situated in North Dallas at 12300 Inwood very near LBJ and across from Jesuit. Here you will find an exciting menu created by an excitable chef. A friend I dined with last night claims she can tell the mood of the chef based on the execution of the meal. If this is true then chef Ray Skradzinski was elated when he created a special menu to pair at this special dinner we enjoyed with a slew of Community beers.

The excitement of the evening was not only the fact that Skaradzinski was on point at the beer dinner, but that it was paired with Community Beer Co., and we were able to dine with the owner of Community, Kevin Carr and have each course of brews thoughtfully explained by Ashley Kelly, the Community sales associate who is extremely passionate about her beers.

Anastacia Quiñones was born and raised in Dallas, TX. Growing up, her mother was a part-time caterer. She grew more intrigued with cooking and knew if she wanted to make it a career she was going to have to study. After graduating from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, Anastacia traveled to San Francisco, California. Working under the Two Michelin Star recipient, Chef Laurent Manrique, Anastacia almost immediately learned French cuisine would be the base for all of her future cooking. Continue reading

2018 Dallas Asian Film Festival Schedule of Events

The Asian Film Festival of Dallas celebrates its 17th year with returning presenting sponsor Well Go USA Entertainment, from Thursday, July 19 through Thursday, July 26, 2018.

This festival year boasts its first Kashmiri drama film and returns with a women’s showcase of Asian directed and produced films by women.  Sixty-six films will screened throughout the week: 6 short blocks (Drama, Experimental, Women’s, Student’s, Late Night and Documentary) and 31 feature films.
