Meat Fight 2013 sold out in mere minutes. The is the beefy extravaganza that took place last night at Four Corners Brewing Company and is the brainchild of one Alice and Mike Laussade. You know her as the award winning  columnist for the Dallas Observer. The event raise $50,000 that will be sent to National MS Society for research into that cause. The chefs that participated were strong and broken into competing teams made up of Brian C. Luscher, Jeana Johnson, Jeff Bekavac, Omar Flores, Chad Houser, David Uygur, Jeffery C. Hobbs, Anastacia Quinones, Tiffany Derry, Nathan Tate, Eric Dreyer, Cody Sharp, all hot-shot meat experts from the Dallas area.

A Look At Chefs For Farmers 2013

DSC00995by Steven Doyle

This past weekend we witnessed yet another edition of Chef for Farmers, a pretty awe inspiring food and wine festival that rivals any like it. In addition, the event was able to pay out checks to many local farmers and raise awareness that even North Texas has some major talent when it comes to agriculture. What better way to show off our produce, meats, cheeses, bees and wines than to host one of the best parties the city has ever witnessed.     Continue reading

The annual Burgers and Burgundy to raise funds for DIFFA (the Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids) event took place Sunday on a beautiful evening in the stunning grounds of the home of Bill and Karen Seanor. DIFFA has a way of choosing outstanding venues for this casual classy event (for example, two years ago it was on the garden level at The House) and this year’s choice was no exception.

Chefs participating in the event led by John Tesar (Spoon Bar & Kitchen) included Samir Dhurandhar (Nick & Sam’s), Sharon Van Meter (3015 Trinity Groves), Tim Byres (Smoke), Patton Robertson (Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck), Kevin Williamson (Ranch 616), T.J. Legnick (Shinsei), Patrick Russell (Max’s Wine Dive), Brad Phillips (Asador), Blaine Staniford (Grace) and Whole Foods.    Continue reading
