ArtsGoggle in Fort Worth May 18

ArtsGoggleby Angela Hopkins

On Saturday, May 18 from 4pm to 10pm, the Magnolia Strip in Fort Worth will once again transform into a walk of art.  This time around 90 businesses are participating in ArtsGoggle.  You will see people on the streets and walking in and out of places such as jewelry shops, non-profit centers, SiNaCa (coolest glass blowing show and shop) and hair salons.  But why?  Because the art is inside… and so are the snacks!

Some will hand you information on the business itself, others will ask if you want a roadie out of the keg.  Just go with the element of surprise.  Cruise in and out of each place.  Carry a cold beverage and soak up visual art as well as live music, pleasing all your senses at once.  Continue reading

DSC07066by Steven Doyle

The Second Annual Big Texas Beer Festival, which is hosted by two very special local beer enthusiasts Chad and Nellie Montgomery, was a wailing success. The festival which takes place in the Automobile Building at the Texas State Fairgrounds brings in a slew or brews from around the country. This year over 400 beers were on the ready to be sampled, and we went through a majority of them two ounces at a time.

The $35 price of admission gave each reveler a punch card good for a dozen samplings, and a small glass for tasting. For an extra two dollars you could grab another round of twelve, making the day inexpensive and fun.     Continue reading

Another session of Savor Dallas has been tucked under our belts, and formidable host Jim White is already at work planning the 2014 version. This year White seemed more at ease with his progeny, having planned what can only be described as a perfect series of events that lasted nearly an entire week.

The smattering of events scattered a wider path this year, having touched on new areas of Dallas including the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, up-and-comer Trinity Groves, and even the Arboretum. Each spot White visited he left a pot of gold as his legacy for this St Patrick’s Day weekend.   Continue reading
