More restaurant activity going on Greenville Avenue. This time it is south of Ross Avenue and brought to us by furniture store operator, Tim Goza and will be cheffed up by Luis Medina. You might remember Medina from Komali. The name of the new restaurant that will soon open at 1418 Greenville Avenue near Bryan Street is called Palapas Seafood Bar. I have been eagerly awaiting the full-on opening of Blind Butcher on Lowest Greenville for some time now. The smallish bar located in the newly revitalized section of Greenville that brings us such illustrious offerings as the Truck Yard, Trader Joes, Nora, Dude Sweet Chocolate and HG Sply, Blind Butcher will be offering something unique for the area. Actually, unique for Dallas and is highly anticipated. From the fellows that brought us the over-the-top brew and burger bar, Goodfriend, Matt Tobin and Josh Yingling have joined forces with Oliver Sitrin, Ryan Chaney and Tony Bricker to bring us an interesting bar serving some tasty brews and cocktails, with the addition of a fine dining element without all the trappings of white table cloth wrapped tables and persnickety sommeliers. Shuck and Jive is a really cool local hang out. I have personally made my way there many times over the years and always have a good meal, a very cold beer and a “Cheers” type of an afternoon each time with spirited conversation with the bartenders and patrons alike.
There are times when we must pay back for our good fortune and great times, and today I am calling for just such an occasion. In the last month Shuck and Jive on Greenville has been burglarized four times. Four times with a total loss of over $20,000. I recently did a First Look at HG Sply Company, and since then have been back many, many times. I have found myself in the unique Greenville Ave. restaurant not only for the food, but also the cocktails or beer. The restaurant itself is billed as a paleo restaurant, which is basically things hunted and gathered. But had you not known about that portion of the concept you might not give the menu a second thought, other than the fact it is sincerely well crafted food. Continue reading

Sundown at the Granada is the sister restaurant to the iconic Granada Theater, both located on Lower Greenville Avenue. The restaurant has a full menu and a dynamic cocktail program that affords diners a fantastic experience in the funky surroundings. The restaurant is outfitted in reclaimed wood and reflects the attitude of the neighborhood, which has a laid back shine and a bit of a party patina.
