Fuel City, the popular Dallas travel center is now open in Mesquite. With seventeen acres and 75 employees, Fuel City aka “The Ranch in Mesquite” is more than twice the size of the original Dallas location.
Open 24/7, Fuel City Mesquite amenities include the popular homemade tacos, submarine sandwiches, elotes, The Original Fried Pie Shop, clean bathrooms, twenty four gas fuel positions, eight truck fuel positions, sodas, ice cold beer and fresh brewed iced tea. The Best Thai family is opening their 7th restaurant location in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas and it boasts the largest Thai buffet in Texas, a private dining area and a small Thai gift shop. The rumors that have been flying around about Village Baking Company opening a second retail store on Greenville Avenue are true. Today it was announced that the beautiful bakery owned by Clint Cooper will take over the space at 1921 Greenville, which is just a nod on the same side of the street as Trader Joes. That location was formerly occupied by Pipedream, a tobacco and vape shop.
Look for some of the loveliest baked goods, including Cooper’s specialty Pain au Levain and the flakiest croissant in Dallas. Clint Cooper has been baking his breads using only natural and organic ingredients such as unbleached flour, ground wheat, whole grains, filtered water, and sea salt – and absolutely no chemicals or preservatives. All of Village Baking’s Artisan breads are baked in small batches on hearth deck ovens giving our bread the distinctive goodness and golden crust that is its signature. Continue reading

For those sitting in wait for Pecan Lodge 2.0 to open in Deep Ellum, set your clocks for 7pm May 23rd. This is when the public will be able to sample the amazing brisket, sausages, ribs (both pork and beef) along with all the other fantastic things that has made the BBQ joint so legendary. The new digs are spectacular, and befit the vision that owners Diane and Justin Fourton have been furiously developing for the past year.
With news of the opening, and a preview for friends and media, there were some terrific announcements made last night. The first is that Pecan Lodge will now be selling growlers of beer. And to top off the brew news Four Corners Brewing Company came up with a new beer in their line up called The Boss Lady, which is named after Diane Fourton. The new beer, called Rustic Red, is actually a spin off of the brewing company’s American amber, Red Roja, that has been dry hopped for a special piquant flavoring backed with notes of stone fruit and citrus. Brooke Humphries, owner of Barcadia, Beauty Bar and Mudsmith just announced there will be at least two more Mudsmith locations. Look for downtown Dallas first , with another slated for Frisco. Humphries tells us that the new location will be on Elm Street and will be two levels with a mezzanine, and a co-working space. More information as we gather. Continue reading
