Primo’s at the Statler Shutters to Make Way for Prime Steakhouse

Primo’s MX Kitchen & Lounge at The Statler in Downtown Dallas shuttered its doors as of Sunday, Feb. 19. But the team at Refined Hospitality Concepts has big plans for the luxurious dining space it leaves behind. Work is currently underway to reinvent the space as LVI. The downtown steakhouse is slated to open in May.

The restaurant’s name, which is 56 in Roman numerals, reflects the history of The Statler. The hotel first opened its doors in 1956 and was immediately hailed as a wonder of design and technology. The first major hotel built in Dallas in 30 years, the Statler introduced guests to the first hotel elevator music, first in-room televisions, and more. LVI plans to embrace the midcentury glamor and style that has defined The Statler since its inception.

Dallas Enchilada All Star Line Up

Growing up in Dallas it would be difficult to avoid the enchilada. The Tex-Mex beauties delicately filled, rolled and sauced for your dining pleasure. And what great memories most Texans have as children growing up noshing on the humble enchilada each Wednesday in our public schools, the same day that El Fenix  offers their inexpensive deal on enchiladas. Perhaps some lay in puddles of grease, but we know how to sop that up with a tortillas for an extra side-car treat.

This past week we craved enchiladas and sought them out with vengeance. This began as our five favorites, but as we started in on them the list grew. Enjoy these enchiladas are in no particular order because Cinco de Mayo and all.

By the way, the list does not include marvelous Mexican restaurants such as Jose. We certainly do not consider them in the same category as Tex Mex.
