John Tesar Hosts 10th Annual Burgers and Burgundy Oct 5th

The Joule Hotel will host the tenth annual Burgers & Burgundy event, presented by Celebrity Chef John Tesar and Terri Provencal, benefiting DIFFA/Dallas (The Dallas Chapter of Design Industry Foundation Fighting AIDS) at the Eye at The Joule on Friday, October 5, 2018.

Funds raised from the event will go towards DIFFA/Dallas’ mission of serving those who are affected by HIV/AIDS across North Texas. This year’s Event Chair, Mohammad Jaber, is joined by Brian Loving and Southwest Funding LP, long-time supporters and co-hosts of the event. “I am looking forward to celebrating Burgers & Burgundy’s 10th annual event by creating a memorable top-notch culinary experience which our guests have grown accustomed to from DIFFA,” says Jaber of DIFFA/Dallas. Hudson House Opens in Addison

Hunter Pond and Kyle Brooks, founders of the popular, East Hampton Sandwich Co, have partnered with M Crowd Restaurant Group (Mi Cocina, The Mercury) to open a second North Texas location of their East Coast inspired neighborhood restaurant Hudson House on Tuesday, September 25.

Located in Addison at 4933 Beltline Road in the former Taco Diner space Pond says, “the homey yet sophisticated restaurant is our take on the ‘swanky’ neighborhood joints of the West Village in New York City.” Continue reading

Stephan Pyles and his Tamale Tarts Throughout Time

Years ago, I will not admit how many, I read a book that contained recipes from several local chefs including Richard Chamberlain of his eponymous steakhouse in Addison, and Steven Pyles of the then wildly popular Routh Street Cafe. Both were young sprites with many years of success ahead of them. The book was called Great Chefs, Great Cities of the Southwest. I was enamoured.

Meet Simon Ford And Taste His Marvelous Gin

Fords Gin is a collaborative endeavor between those with a history of serving drinks and those with a history of making drinks. The gin is a flavorsome affair whose sippable nature belies its 45% ABV.

Simon Ford formerly of Pernod Ricard and Jason Kosmas of New York’s Employees Only a bar the stuff of legends, and Speakeasy Cocktails, an excellent book on Cocktails, are some of the players in this new venture. Rather than become brand ambassadors for someone else’s product the moved out on their own to bring us the best products they can find. Their portfolio includes Aylesbury Duck VodkaCaña Brava Rum,  Tequila Cabeza, and this the  Fords Gin.
