Celebrate Your Labor Day in Dallas

by Steven Doyle

Summer is coming to close, but you really wouldn’t notice by the temperatures outside. Perhaps the only indication that Fall is fast approaching are all the blinking school zone signs and talk of the Texas State Fair and all their fried offerings.

Alas, there is one last summer hurrah with a three-day weekend and we want to add to your growing list of pool parties and lake jaunts in case you wanted something different to do. Celebrate with us:    Continue reading

Coffee House Cafe is Steaming Hot

by Steven Doyle

As we reported first on craveDFW the Coffee House Café is open after ironing out the first week’s kinks in staff, and the kitchen is humming along in full swing.

The restaurant that is located on the south west corner of Frankford and Preston and owned by first time restaurateur Carrie Kelleher fills a niche in the area that lacks a proper breakfast, brunch and lunch menu. Indeed, this is all the Coffee House is serving at the moment.  Continue reading

Since the movie, Powell has written another book called Cleaving: a Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession, which details her love for butchering and also her affair.  Continue reading

by Steven Doyle

An interesting exhibition is now on display that chronicles food and nutrition for the past 100 years. The National Archives announced recently What’s Cooking, Uncle Sam? would make its run through January 2, 2012 in Washington.

The exhibition is curated by Alice Kamps who was the former Director of Interpretation at Hillwood Museum and Gardens and Director of Arts Learning at Chicago Children’s Museum has gathered an interesting display from within the belly of the government that doesn’t always portray Uncle Sam in the best light.   Continue reading
