2022 News From Vegas

Think Las Vegas already has a lot of celebrity-connected restaurants? 2022 wants you to hold its beer.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith plans to open Emmitt’s this spring, and reps finally have confirmed reports that it’ll be at the Fashion Show mall. The 30,000-square-foot establishment in the space formerly occupied by the Sugar Factory will offer fine dining on the first level (no word yet on menu particulars) and a second-floor space that will morph from a sports bar during the day to an ultralounge in the evenings.

Nate’s Seafood and Steakhouse Celebrating 30+ Years

nates6.jpgby Steven Doyle

Nathan Peck, owner of Nate’s Seafood and Steakhouse in Addison, opened his doors in 1988 after working in Houston haunts such as including Landry’s Seafood, Willie G’s and the Magnolia Bar and Grill. Known by many as Seafood Nate, this chef owner is of proud tradition and considers fare as authentic as we might find it in landlocked Dallas.

With a proud Cajun heritage, Nate offers great food at fair prices, and has even been known to say, “If It Ain’t Good, Don’t Pay… But Don’t Ask For Seconds!’”. Well, that may be just a sign at the restaurant, but it is words the chef lives by. It is likely that very few over the past 30-plus years have taken Nate up on this as Nate’s Seafood and Steakhouse is pretty spectacular in its own right and has become somewhat a legend. Eat Me: Trompo Tacos From Bachman Tacos And Grill

DSC03908by Steven Doyle

Since we are on a trompo taco kick we set sights for one of our favorite spots across from Bachman Lake to Bachman Tacos and Grill set inside the gas station at 3311 Northwest Highway. There you walk to the gas station’s counter to prepay for however many tacos or burritos you might want, then present your ticket to the cooks at the taco grill.

What you will taste is one of the better trompo tacos sliced straight from the spinning grilled meat. These are piping hot and spicy with insanely juicy slivers of pork. Add the tasty salsa verde, and a squirt of fresh lime for the perfect bite of taco goodness that scream “eat me”.  We happen to know this is chef Kent and Tracy Rathbun favorite taco n Dallas, and can be spotted noshing on a few from time to time.   Continue reading
