The World Food Championships is back in Dallas, and this year, at a new location. This year’s WFC will take place from November 5 through 7 at Fair Park, allowing room for over 1500 chefs to go head to head for cash prizes.
The last World Food Championships took place in 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Although the competition was expected to return to Dallas in 2020, COVID shut those plans down. Now, at Fair Park, chefs will cook across over 40 different food stations in games of Olympic proportions—appropriately titled Biscuits & Jampionships, Bourb’N’Que, Fire Woman, the latter of which highlighting four female pitmasters as they compete for the title of Fire Woman, as well as a cash prize.

Everybody loves a good steak. There is nothing quite like a beautiful beef cut cooked on the grill or pan-seared to perfection. But, unfortunately, not everyone knows steak cuts well enough; some are even oblivious to the fact that there could also be bad steaks.

Dakota’s Steakhouse will reopen its doors on Monday, September 13. After closing its doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic after 37 years, the iconic subterranean restaurant is reopening under new ownership and chef at the helm. In anticipation of the restaurant’s second debut, Dallasites can now reserve a table on OpenTable
Dakota’s Steakhouse, the storied underground staple of Downtown dining, is revived by Meredith McEneny, the new sole owner who assumed controlling interest in January 2021, and Chef Ji Kang.
Many Dallasites are familiar with the McEneny name due to her husband, Tim McEneny, a local restauranteur with years of hospitality experience under his belt. After 10 years of supporting her husband’s companies, McEneny is thrilled to channel her talents and expertise toward re-launch the historic restaurant.

Addison Oktoberfest has been recognized as one of the most authentic Oktoberfest celebrations outside of Munich for over three decades. This year, approximately 50,000 fans will come together September 16-19, 2021, to share a love of polka, German food and, of course, the same Paulaner Bier that would traditionally be served at Bavaria’s favorite festival.
Hotel and ticket pakets – no, that’s not a misspelling; it’s the German word for packages – run $20 and up, and include lots of extras.

The food business is massive, and every year, thousands of new entrepreneurs try their luck. While it’s now easier than ever to get in, it’s getting more competitive every day, and unless you have a great idea and know how to execute it, you’ll have trouble staying afloat. Thankfully, there are tons of proven businesses that you can start in this space, and many of them only require a minimal investment. Here are a few food startups worth trying.
Virtual restaurants have been around for a while, but have exploded during the pandemic. These are restaurants that only exist online and rely solely on delivery services for clientele. There are many benefits to this model.
For one, you can greatly reduce your overhead costs. Not only that, but you won’t even need to think about things like staffing. That’s because you can use a ghost kitchen and have them prepare the dishes for you. All they need are the ingredients and recipes and they’re good to go. You can also rent kitchen space and run the whole thing yourself if you want to.

A few years back we discussed the tragic and curious Boston Molasses Flood that killed 21 and injured over 150, demolishing buildings and drowning livestock, causing millions of dollars in damages. There was another industrial accident that wreaked havoc on a city, killing many and causing damage that is equally as curious.
Like all tragic stories such as these a certain element of hubris rides high, not too unlike the massive container of molasses that exploded in Boston all those years ago, or even the supposedly unsinkable Titanic. Continue reading

Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, celebrated its 60th anniversary today by announcing that an all-new ride experience will make its debut for the 2022 season. Pirates of Speelunker Cave, is a state-of-the-art attraction that will place guests squarely in the middle of a pirate treasure hunt thwarted by resident Speelunkers. This exciting, new attraction is the second new ride announced at the park and is scheduled to open early in 2022. Aquaman: Power Wave, a previously announced multi-launch water coaster, will also debut next season.
“As the world’s first regional theme park, Six Flags Over Texas has built a solid reputation of providing innovative thrills and lifelong memories for generations of families,” said Six Flags Over Texas Park President Ron McKenzie. “What better way to celebrate our park’s 60th anniversary than by announcing a brand-new attraction that pays homage to our past and launches us into the future,” added McKenzie.
