Wicked Butcher, a modern steakhouse in one of Fort Worth’s most beautiful historic buildings, will open in Fall 2019, restaurant leader DRG Concepts announced today.

The revived Sinclair Building, a historic landmark in Downtown Fort Worth, is home to DRG Concepts’ newest restaurant.  Wicked Butcher is a modern, Fort Worth steakhouse that embraces the swanky, art deco character of the building’s architecture and the vibrant and cosmopolitan heart of the city. State Fair Announces  15th Annual Big Tex Choice Awards

State Fair of Texas concessionaires are officially off to the races with a new lineup of incredible, edible innovations for the public to taste. The 15th Annual Big Tex Choice Awards  is offering another year of exciting bites for all appetites. From savory snacks to sweet treats, 2019’s assortment will not disappoint! After much deliberation in the first round of judging, the scores have been tallied and the results are in; 33 semi-finalists have been named to move forward. Comprised of 20 savory and 13 sweet entries, these semi-finalist contenders are one step closer to the main event, where they will compete for one of three winning titles: “Best Taste – Sweet,” “Best Taste – Savory,” and “Most Creative.” Continue reading

12 Cuts Brazilian Steakhouse, a truly Brazilian steakhouse with South American flair, will open its doors to the public this August. Located at 18010 Dallas Parkway in north Dallas, the Churrascaria style restaurant will focus on blending a traditional Brazilian steakhouse with elements of Argentinian cuisine.
Originally from Brazil, the husband and wife team behind 12 Cuts, moved to the United States in 1997 to help debut Fogo de Chão’s first American location in Addison, Texas. After over 20 years with the restaurant,  Juarez DeConto, in partnership with Dejair Zuliani, decided to create their own version of a churrascaria with a unique twist.

Tortilla Factory and Restaurant is Filled with History

In a time when women were kept at home and away from the workplace Maria Luna, who at the time was a single parent, rose from the kitchen to create her mark on Dallas history with Luna’s Tortilla Factory. A strong and devoted woman Luna gathered local women to crush her nixtamal , or corn that would become masa. Once gathered from Luna had the masa formed into tortillas and tamales which became a business that is now 95 years old and run by her son and grandson, both named Fernando.

Maria Luna ran her business, originally located on McKinney Avenue near downtown on a block that Luna purchased in 1938 for about $50,000 and shared with the original El Fenix. There the family worked, living above the tortilla factory. This meant dedication. Maria never turned away a stranger in need of fresh tortillas regardless of the hour. The building has since been remodeled to accommodate Meso Maya, and is considered a historical landmark.  Continue reading
