Bombay Street Food Truck Brings A Dosa Of Good Tidings And Great Joy

dosa1by Steven Doyle

One of favorite food trucks in Dallas is the Bombay Street Food and we havr a bizarre obsession with its menu. The truck serves 100% vegan dosas and other interesting Indian offerings.

A dosa is a versatile Southern Indian street food that is prepared with a crispy crepe-like shell made of rice and lentils, and filled with ingredients that can be served with varying spice levels. This makes for an interesting and practical offering for a food truck, and one that fills a niche the Dallas area desperately needed.   Continue reading

twisted1

Twisted Root recently announced a new menu item for its vegetarian and vegan friends. It’s a burger that consists of black beans, ground chick peas, flax seeds, brown rice, quinoa and some delicious seasonings. And unlike many restaurants that phone in their veggie-friendly burger offerings with frozen or pre-made patties, Twisted Root is making their veggie burger in-house daily, so customers get a fresh, tasty and healthy meal that will fill them up.

Before now, vegetarians and vegans who visited Twisted Root could enjoy salads and a couple side items, but the better burger restaurant wanted to ensure that all patrons could fully enjoy the Twisted Root experience. And that means getting a hot, freshly made burger for lunch or dinner.  Continue reading

Zen Bistro And Dessert Bar Adds Vegan And Gluten Free Cakeballs

DSC06241by Steven Doyle

Zen Bistro and Dessert Bar just became a little more zen-like with the addition of gluten free and vegan options in their dessert line. In the past two years the restaurant owned by sisters Chonnie Richey and Czarina Hounsel has grown in popularity which first started as a cool coffee shop with a vibe in Deep Ellum. It was a great place to snag a cake ball or two, which is their claim to fame after appearing on the Cooking Network.  Central Market loved the Zen cake balls so much they sell hoards of them each week.

Soon the girls found their customers asking about their Filipino heritage and wondering where they could actually find that style of food in Dallas. There aren’t many, to be sure.  So the girls changed their name from Zen Baking Company and added Bistro to the name. Now you can find an assortment of Filipino dishes, some in tapas portions for easy tasting and sharing.   Continue reading
