Craving Crave: Hot Burlesque Action

By StealingKitty    photos by Mark Kaplan

Hot burlesque at a lesbian bar? Why haven’t they thought of this sooner? Friday night I checked out Sexy-Mic Comedy & Burlesque to see Courtney Crave in action. Her smokin’ hot number to Def Leopard’s, ‘Pour Some Sugar on Me’, had the women up on their feet begging for more. It mixed good old fashioned stripper sensibility with bombshell burlesque attraction. So hot sticky sweet.  Continue reading →

BBQ and Sun at Veritas

by Steven Doyle

Few things make us grin more than a great barbecue on a sunny holiday weekend, and this Memorial Day proved little exception as a band of hungry and thirsty revelers congregated at one of Crave’s favorite wine bars in Dallas – Veritas.

After catching word this weekend from co-owner Brooks Anderson that he was hosting an extemporaneous BBQ and wine tasting, I gathered a group to assemble on the front patio of the Henderson Avenue wine joint.   Continue reading →

CityArts Festival Hosts Food Trucks and Chefs

by Steven Doyle

This weekend we stumbled upon the CityArt’s Festival at Fair Park. It was Saturday afternoon and my little band of gypsies had just dined on Jimmy’s Food Store sandwiches and spent some time with Tom Spicer sipping Prosecco on his fairly new patio deck behind Spiceman’s FM 1410 shop. We were so close to Fair Park it would have been a miscarriage of justice not to stop in and see what was cooking at the festival. Continue reading →

Sunday Brunch: The Grape

by Joy Jangles

This week I had the pleasure of interviewing Chef Brian Luscher from The Grape who is sharing his very special recipe for his Country-Style Frittata.  Made from fresh farm eggs, pancetta, broccoli and oven dried tomatoes– this frittata is delightfully fluffy with crispy edges topped with Asiago and creamy goat cheese.   Continue reading →

Voveti Prosecco Sparkles

by David Donalson

Yesterday, I had the privilege of going to the industry release event of Freixenet’s new product, the Voveti Prosecco. This is done through a partnership between Freixenet, one of the main Cava producers in Spain, and Collavini family based in Friuli, Italy.

When talking with brand manager Liz Hartley, she explained how the Ferrer family wanted to expand and create an “authentic Italian Prosecco by going to the source.” “This has been over a year in the making” and the initial release was only 7000 cases, a miniscule production for a giant producer like Freixenet. The concept was to create a higher-end product to highlight the quality of the fruit. With a $17 price point, this will quickly replace most sparkling wines for my Sunday brunch.  Continue reading →

Cedars Social Grand Opening Fete

by Steven Doyle

Most of the Crave crew headed down to the grand opening of Cedars Social, the sweet bar that poses as a restaurant and is adored by many. We know they have been open for business for months, but still we all enjoy any reason to party.

If you haven’t been to Cedars Social yet, you need to check out what barman Michael Martensen is up to with his killer cocktail program, and of course the amazing menu that chef John Tesar rocked out before splitting to the Commissary.

In addition to all this frivolity toss in sommelier D’Lynn Proctor with his ample bottles of bubbly for a truly sweet kick off. Here are a few photos from last evening:   Continue reading →

BuzzBrews in Deep Ellum

by Steven Doyle

The Deep Ellum location for Cowboy Chow will close after this weekend and soon replaced by BuzzBrews which will open in July. You will still be able to chow on Chow, but will need to travel to Roanoke for those Build-Your-Own Braised Short Rib Tacos or that Mashed Tater Parfait.

Welcome to the neighborhood BuzzBrews.
