Brooke Humphries, owner of Acme F&B, Barcadia Bar and Grill, and It’ll Do, will open the doors at Mudsmith this coming Monday, January 28th .  Mudsmith promises to deliver a unique coffee shop experience serving celebrated Four Barrel coffee out of San Francisco.

We broke this story back in November noting that Humphries will be using the amazing Four Barrel Coffee that you actually must submit a plea along with your menu and concept information before you can be approved to sell the product. We go into greater detail about Four Barrel in our orignal story. It’s worth checking out.    Continue reading →

Andrew Bell At Bolsa Mercado

andrew bellby Steven Doyle

Andrew Bell is a really good chef who has been looking to set down somewhere firm and presumably enjoyable. He was last seen in the flagship Nosh on Oak Lawn and since then fell off our radar. There were talks of Bell opening his own Nosh in Austin but that never came to fruition. He had worked with Avner Samuels in the past at Aurora. Myth had it he would be the opening chef at JoJo, and actually that was the plan.  Continue reading →

A Whole Free Pie Tomorrow, And You Don’t Have To Share

pieby Steven Doyle

Tomorrow is National Pie Day, which just so happens to be our favorite holiday besides National Whiskey Day and National Three Lunch Tuesday. We have plenty of celebration in order with a roll out of our favorite area pies, but today we wanted to share a deal you may wish to prepare for in anticipation of the big day Wednesday.       Continue reading →

Reagle Beagle Tells You To Get Stuft

DSC05178by Steven Doyle

I remember the Regal Beagle when it was a fictitious Santa Monica pub on the horrific television series Three’s Company. Perky Chrissie played by Suzanne Somers pretended to sip beer while her roommates romped around a pool table. Alas, Dallas has its own version of the pub on Greenville Avenue just a bit right of Lovers Lane. Here you will find a typical dive bar with low lights, a handful of televisions and a serviceable day crowd of mixed ages that seem to all know each other and most likely gather often to celebrate the day. And no Chrissie.

Fairly recently Nick Vakidis and Ben Johnson took charge of the restaurant operations inside the Regal Beagle offering spicy wings, house-made jalapeno poppers and a pretty damned good burger they call Stuft. Continue reading →

“Lonerism:” on All Fours with Tame Impala

by Dr. Spin

The package arrived at just the right time. The last time I opened my mailbox before I turned in the key to the apartment office, it bore an Amazon order that included Tame Impala’s Lonerism. I deemed it auspicious: new house, new music. The first listen, however, occurred when I was on my hands and knees putting the first coat of grout sealant on between the bathroom tiles. Hardly ideal.

Despite this humble introduction, the albums hyperreal homage to psychedelia immediately grabbed my attention and has evolved into an indispensable favorite... got to the Pharmacy for  more

Kenny Is Opening His Smoke House Monday

kennyby Steven Doyle

Do you remember that time we told you that Kenny Bowers was going to open his Smoke House in the Shops at Legacy? If you read these pages often enough you know we love us some Kenny. The man has a knack for flavor and for style. He is a pretty cool cat in fact. All this is to say that the Smoke House is opening Monday.

Look for slow smoked meats and seafood, with full service, full bar and – wait for it – Grey Goose on tap. Go to 5760 Legacy Drive and follow the smoke.
