Barman’s Halloween at Victor Tangos

Victor Tangos restaurant in Dallas. Photography by Mei-Chun Jau.

On Monday, 10/31, Victor Tangos will join forces with Brian Floyd of The Barman’s Fund, as well as some of the city’s top bartenders, to raise a glass and money for charity.

The evening will feature drink specials, half-off all food for industry members (it is Monday, after all), and some of the city’s best barmen (and women) behind the bar. Dallas favorite, DJ Bryan C. (of Music is Our Weapon) will handle the soundtrack for the evening. And since no Halloween party is complete without costumes, prizes will be given for the “Best,” “Most Inappropriate” and “Most Outlandish” costumes.   Continue reading

Meet Architect-Bartender Jonathan Bailey

Jonathanby Steven Doyle

Jonathan Bailey is an award winning architect who builds multi-billion dollar children’s hospitals around the globe. He just acquired another firm overseas and took on 100’s more employees in the buyout. But the man comes from humble beginnings. As a teen Jonathan was one of the foreman at Six Flags and ran the famous flume ride. Now the world renowned architect is foreman of his own multi-national firm who often takes conference calls with the French government, or a team of designers in Cairo as it was earlier this week. But further into these conversations Jonathan will often cut the conferences short and bow out of the conversation as he did on Wednesday.          Continue reading

JW Tate Leaving Dallas

jwby Steven Doyle

When Tate’s Craft Cocktails owner John Tate opened his second bar on McKinney Avenue we were thrilled. The smallish cocktail den served small bites and glorious cocktails. The opening manager was Matt Ceneviva who had previously managed the first location in Winston-Salem. After working the bar and getting the program up to speed Ceneviva moved back home to Winston-Salem. Enter JW Tate, a young but bad ass barman who had been honing his skills in New York.    Continue reading
